transferring ownership
whats the process involved in transferring ownership of a car from parent to child?
i know that it can be given as a gift and can be tax free but what else is there?
with selling a car you have to show a bill of sale and some other paperwork but for transferring it from parent to child, can you just go to the ministry of transportation licencing office and get them to transfer the ownership??
thanks

i know ive seen that but it doesnt really say anything other then that i am tax exempt .
its more for selling or buying. im assuming since its a transfer that you dont need the "used vehicle information package" (UVIP) but then again it doent say that i dont.
and knowing the MTO, nothing is simple. ill either get the run around or be forced to sign countless number of forms and pages

my step mom gave me her old civic, i didnt have to pay any taxes and it was fairly simple to do. We had to get a lawyer or something to sign some paper to show it was a gift. I just recently bought a 93 civic coupe and i had to pay taxes on that which was like 260 bux.
