University of Guelph

I will be attending in the fall, just wondering if anyone on here is currently a student or went there at some point in time.

thanks!

UoG has one of the best all-round campus grounds in the province. You could spend the entire semester there without ever having to go off-campus for anything.

Park-like campus setting, plenty of on-campus bars and night-life. Library could be a bit better but these days, what you can't get there you can usually get on the internet.

Most class-room facilities are modern enough, though there are still classes held in a few "heritage" buildings.

Campus is pretty much self-contained, but if you want to go off-campus, the city of Guelph has plenty to offer in night-life and shopping. You may have difficulty find a goth hangout in Guelph, but just about every other taste is catered to.

It's also quite safe - I can't remember the last time there was a shooting in Guelph. About the worst sort of crime that goes on with any degree of frequency is impaired walking.

Are there really bars? I didn't notice any when I was doing the campus tour, yet I wasn't really looking hard.

The campus looks great, and I'm glad to hear that everything is at your disposal when you live there.

I'll be in residence btw.

Did you attend there Marker?

I was there from 1984 through 1993. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, so much so that I stayed for some extra degrees. The stock market has been good to me since, so I'm about to quit work and go back again for some "recreational studying".

There's the Brass Taps (aka the Keg) in the University Center admin building, mostly good for food and drink, and the occasional band. The Bullring is a dance club with DJ, and is usually est on Thursday nights. Der Keller in the basement of Johnston Hall is a sort of artsy beer hall hangout. The basement of the University Center of ten serves as a concert venue for some good up and coming bands, comedy troupes, and the occasional headliner band acts as well.

There is fine dining in the Whippletree, 5th floor of the University Center.

Each of the other residences also holds periodic pub nights in their respective cafeteria halls.

Residence is a great way to be right in the middle of it if you don't mind the constant ebb and flow of people at all hours. I like it a little quieter, so when I was there, I opted to live in a luxury apartment building near campus that didn't rent to students. ;-)

I went to Guelph a lot, but never been enrolled.

-lots of blonde broads
-lots of 'connected' Italian families
-lots of ******* pigs outside the bars
-no bottles of beer allowed, only cans (I think)
-no kegs allowed in dorms
-don't use the pancake syrup at breakfast
-beer battered fries are your friend
-gryphons (something like that) has a good buffalo chicken sandwhich
-make sure the girlie at the club is of age.
-if you are a goth, the trasheteria may have something for you (assuming it is still around)
-GWAR goes to Guelph and performs in the basement of palace

2 years ago, they have the most amount of students that had AIDS. How hard is it to understand? I remember reading that the university doctors had over 100 patients in 1 day that were diagnosed with AIDS.

But if you like herpes, go for it
