Virus? =(
Damn laptop.. i purchased it off of my high school, and the technician is obviously on summer vacation now.. so i can't get him to fix it, and i don't wanna take it to durham board, anyone ever had this happen before:
i turn it on and log into my localuser account, all i see is my desktop pic and one or two pop ups for windows blinds, and then messages saying "------.exe failed to run"
every time its a different .exe...
anyone? i don't have the recovery cd, cause it's been converted to fit the schools needs i get it set back to factory default after the 4 years of school is done.. until then
i need my laptop, should i just take the chance of missing it for weeks and take it to the durham board tech.?

Probably because someone deleted the .exe. Is really a simple fix, unless they are critical files. write down all the names on a piece of paper, goto start, run, type regedit, and then find those files and delete them.
if those files are critical, reinstall windows, or that particular program

Its more then likely a virus or spyware especially since the name keeps changing. Have you been doing any virus scans\spyware scans lately? This usually happens when the virus gets deleted but its still set to startup in the registry, only thing is it can't find the file to startup when you boot your computer so it gives that error. do what loudsubz said. go to start>run> and type in msconfig
and go through the list of startup programs. Uncheck the suspicious .exe files that are set to run.

It doesn;t matter if you bought it off the school. What you should have done was, the day you got it, you should have formatted your laptop, and reinstalled everything.
Good to do this every 4 months. Your comp will run a lot faster too.
