Visiting Lebanon

Visiting Lebanon
I was watching a documentry the other day about Lebanon, and they said that most people are from the southern part, Tyre or Sidon.
Are these cities the ones that were attacked in 2006?
I hope no one had families there.
Also I was planning on visiting Lebanon this summer and I was wondering if some of the lebanese guys on here could tell me which cities are the nice ones to visit?
I wanna visit the ones that have a lot of history or something to see, something to do.
How's the night life? Any info would be appreciated.

the tyrants bombed the southern suburbs of beirut and some locations within the city itself....tyre or sidon should be safe largely. the lebanese are courteous and friendly...and as long as you mind your own business...you should be fine.

Well I haven't been back there for a long time, but the south is mostly small villages, with beautiful scenary, you can visit some of the old temples, also the beach where that huge rock is!
here are some cool links(other then the obvious beach araes)

go to a city called Balbak....it has the historic ruins from the Roman Empire era....here's a link to a pic..
http://www.sacredsites.com/middle_ea...on/baalbek.htm
and they have local shops with AMAZING food...ask for something called SFEEHA when in Balbak (they are renouned for making the best in the country)...It's basically oven cooked bread with minced meat and fine diced onions(doesn't sound appealing but it is!) ....you will LOVE IT....
if you want night life...you want to go Mono st; its in Beirut...a part of town called ASHRAFEEYEH (are you writing this down! cuz it's hard to remember all these names) lots of clubs/bars......
make sure you visit the beaches.....they are in the town of JOUNYA....it's a whole strip of beaches....ask how to get there...15-20 min drive from Beirut. hmmm...i dunno what else to tell u...ask if u need more info.
Either way you'll really like it there...local ppl are really friendly......enjoy your trip!

Shop owners might speak English...broken english...lol
but ppl that work at beaches and clubs are fully capable of carrying a conversation...they usually hire younger ppl...20-25 yr olds who speak English ... so you won't have any trouble communicating
I am imagining the beaches right now...they are beautiful
if you have a chance go to a beach called JANNA.... JANNA means heaven in Arabic and it truly is....its absolutely GORGEOUS and the food is amazing
make sure you eat 2 things when in Lebanon...SHAWARMA and MANOOCHEH (this is something you eat at breakfast) It's oven baked bread with cheese or something we call Za3tar (not sure what it is in English) but you'll LOVE IT
and food is cheap
$1 CD = 1000 liras.
$1 US = 1500 liras
to give you an example.....2 shawarma sandwhichs with a drink and fries will cost you maybe 4000 liras.....
you can get a bottle of juice for 500 - 750 liras....thats 0.75!
entrance into a beach will cost you between 10,000 - 15,000 liras....which is not bad considering you can stay there all day and bake in the sun and swim all you want and they have events @ night....
take pics! when u planning on going?

WOW it's pretty cheap there. I'm happy about that.
Yea I'm definitely gonna have some Shawarmas.
Sounds like you wanna go there lol
I'm planning on going sometime in August. Not sure when exactly yet. I'm planning on going there for about 2-3 weeks, that should be enough time.
So the cities that I'm gonna visit are Beirut, Tyre and Balbak so far. Any other ones?

Go get a visa and come to Cyprus for a week or weekend if you go to Syria, we are only 100k's west of there! and it's the European vacation hot spot! if you do come, stay in Agia Napa if you want to party it up!
