WARNING: new scam in the Toronto area
this is a warning:
Some people in the area have started a new scam similar to the "van speaker" scams
This has happened to few people I know, and he came up to me on Sat. at Yorkdale
(I've also heard at Home Depot and the Airport)
First a Van pulls up and a guy gets out to tell you that he's visiting from Italy (even has a plane ticket that he is leaving)
and was doing a fashion show here and has a few "leather" jackets left over from this fashion show
He'll show the product and gives you a good deal on one and he'll throw in the rest for free, he wants at least $400 ( I don't even think these jackets are leather and compare to cheap "pleather")
So the scam is you buy 4-5 jackets and he tells you because you got a good deal you can sell the rest to your friends and your jacket is free, WOW
(I find this funny that here you are minding your own business and this "scam" artist wants to turn you into a scam artist)
any comments ? Sightings ?
Be warned, I'll worry when someone tries to sell us these "Italian Leather" jackets on TCC classifieds
p.s. if you don's know about the van speaker scam:

the guys who sell these are good and do the scam very well, I bought a set when I was 16...only to realize later the "scam".
they always use the same scprited lingo
to be forewarned is to be forearmed

yea, i had this happen to me a couple times, some old italian doods are like, hey, we've got home speakers, original price of $500, now, $100, and car subs for $100 etc. i then start pretending i'm a big FOB, and say "no no, no buy, thank you!"

the speaker guys arent a scam...all they are is some guys that work for a stereo shop and wanna move product (lower end stuff) so they have guys that go around in vans selling stuff to people to make them think like its some kind of special one time deal...and people buy it or they dont...the stuff isnt stolen or fake or whatever
just some flea market grade stuff worth only 80bucks like said, I even talked to the speaker guys and told them I knew how it worked and they agreed, we laughed about it and they went and sold some speakers to some next guy
as far as the leather jackets...if u dont know real leather from fake I guess thats ur first problem...and still even if its cheap *** leather 100bucks per jacket is reasonalble since thats what international clothiers sells their cheapo leathers for

lol I've gotten the van guys to try and sell me speakers in a zellers parking lot, I wouldve bought them but I didnt have cash.
My dad was offered those leather jackets a few weeks ago, he thought it was fishy so he left it alone.

me and my cousin were getting lunch for ppl at work like 5 years back, he was only like 17 and i was like 16 and we were at the bank and when we got out these guys in a van came up and showed us the speakers... my uncle is the owner of a worldwide sporting goods supplier and makes ****loads of cash was who we were working for at the time and it was my cousins dad so he just walked back into the bank and got more money and biought the speakers... the guy wanted 200 for them but my cousin got them for 75...
and all i can say is for $75, the speakers are still working in his house and they sounds decent for the price...
i wouldnt buy anything like this again, but we were young and we swore we got a deal, lol

Happened to me a few times already, pulled up with cheasy accent say they just when to fashion show and have no room for these designer jackets to take back home eh oh! I checked them out anyways he said they were Valentino leather jackets but i knew for sure they were fake 5 for $500 and quality was poor as ***. He seen my armani glasses and said, "oh you like armani eh" and i replied back yes i like the real deal no knockoffs. He putt the jackets back in his van and said in itialian don't ever forget this face and i said same thing back to him. He got in his fan and took off.
