Washroom Attendents @ the bar
#21
I think this is a European concept. When I was in Greece in 1993, i hopped into the train station to do my business, and there was a lady outside waiting to be tipped. (stupid canadian me, didn't understand why she was there). After I did my business, i walked out, and away, and she started yelling at me..heck, she almost ran at me with a broom.. LOL.
Anyhow..i've been back since then..and these attendants are everywhere..McDonald's, B-King, Clubs..airports.... the difference is..they EXPECT to be tipped. Tipping these people (don't know what their title is) is part of societal norms in Europe. Whereas here it is still a new concept. I guess it's just finding another way to make a buck!!!

Cover - $5-$10
Drinks for a night - $60
SHOT TIME for friends - $40
Paying the chick in the washroom to hand me a paper towel - priceless
If you think about it... the majority have to pay out to the bar for being able to work in that washroom (most are not bar employees)... so really they go home with hardly anything. So is it really worth it to have them in there? If so then they should be making some overhead pay for security costs or something.
I think the bar makes enough money off people for them to have to let someone else technically make them MORE money in the washroom.
