What do you think?

I just seen this from Canadian Tire - It's the Counteract Electronic Rust Protection System

Canadian Tire Link - Click ME!

Has anyone tried it? Heard anything about it? Could it be possible?

I know a friend that used it before, said it worked great for him.

Wanted to get some input from you guys.

Ive heard these things are a waste of money and do not work. I think there was a study at university of guelph that proved these things do not work.
Rust proofing places you go to would agree that these do not work and are a waste of money. I think people would think, oh of course they want the business so they are going to say that. But a lot of people who get this still get their car rust proofed anyways.
Dont think it is worth it.

my mom had a unit like that (not the same one) on her 2000 Monte Carlo SS, almost 7 years later there was no rust, but the car still wasn't that old

she also has in on her new Accord

^^^ As much as I appreciate your input, I don't see any concrete evidence backing that up. Because I know of one person that used it in a major company that said it worked sufficiently. But that was more piping.

Could you grant me maybe the article you read in regards to UofG doing a study on this. Or maybe more details of how it wouldn't work.

Not denying your judgement, but I can't go based on that answer.

PS> Why would a rust-proofing company tell you to get this product anyways? They wouldn't of course, because that would destroy business.

Just my opinion.

hey, well i asked my dad about this and he used to work at a plant in saudi arabia and they used the same tech. on the metal pipings and it prevented rust. so if its the same concept then it should work

^^ yes ive heard of something like this working before on pipes and even really heavy duty ones on tow trucks.

Youd think rust proofing companies would tell you not to use them because it would take away business, but I was at a Krown when we sold them an air compressor and he told me many people come in for rust proofing and they have this equipped and still come in and get rust proofed. He said he has heard many people complain that they do not work.

That being said, if you want to try it then go ahead I doubt it one of these basic ones would stop the rust from popping up on a older ef/eg civic with out rust proofing. I will try to find an article on this soon.

i believe all you need to do to keep iron from rusting is keep it's charge neutral...so all this thing has to do is keep a neutral charge on your cars body panels and it chemically cant rust...according to grade 11 chemistry class haha

^ I heard the same. I was told it's because the ships and pipes are surrounded by water or moist soil so it can work in that situation, but not just in the open air. Not sure if that is true but that is what I was told.

that is what i was getting at when I asked about the pipes. To use this system effectively I think you would have to be driving underwater constantly.

On that note, can I get my car to go under water? J/K.

I see your point.

I of course realize that many products out there don't work - was hoping someone had personal experience with this product to grant us feedback.

Regardless. It's good to hear everyone out.
