Hrmm try going to device manager, and deleting the hardware; and then let XP auto config it.

If all else fails, format if you can.

Hope this helps.

By any chance u download a lot of stuff EG. hacked games/ programs. i find lot of stuff on kazaa is pretty buggy.

Format its the easiest way and back up on a monthly basis

save all usefull important stuff to wone folder and back it up on a reg bassis. Thats what i do.

naw dont format the computer, its only a driver issue.. reinstall the drivers, what i suggest u do is open the computer, and move the sound card to another slot, so windows reinstall the drivers itself

I forgot to mention that.

When formatting, I find it easier to just partion a part of your drive; and create that drive as the backup. Its alot easier to backup files this way.

My setup is, one drive for programs and windows, another drive for all my important stuff, including backups.

Why reinstall??????? WTF

Reinstall the drivers, if plug and play doesen't do it then you manually have to install and configure them on your own. Properly delete the old ones from device manager and download new ones. Try these 2 sites for drivers, www.driverscollection.com and drdriver.com if those don't have it just try searching in google for ur card + drivers and you should be able to get lucky and find a site to provite u with good drivers.
But the best thing to do is actually going on the manufacturers website and downloading them if they're quite new, they may have older drivers but search around, if not theres alternatives listed above

Good luck
