the light idea sounds like a very feasible one

sounds very Japanese to add a light to prevent scratching your own car

And when would this "light" turn on?

Bahaha...he's got you there guys!! My crown vic had these things if you pulled on the door handle and the door was locked...the light around the key hole lit up as did the interior lights. Crown Victorias are pure pimp Had delay lights too, just turn off the car, and the lights go out themselves.

I think I know what it is.

It's a grounding point. before you open the door, you touch your key to it, so you don't get shocked when you open the door.

Am I right?

Hey PUL OVR,

I confirmed what it is from my "sources". I didn't have to ask my cousin.

I was right (as well as some other people), it is for the old infrared remote keyless entry system. The problem with that was, you had to be pointing the key (single button on the key) a certain way to activate it unlike the current RF remotes.

check with your sources....the infa red option wasn't avalible until the 6th gen. the car in question is a 5th gen. Above the key hole on some SiR's was a small round piece of trim used as an anti-static device

Ummm....this anti-static device would shock you before any other part of the car would? So at least you know where it's coming from... I dunno...I would think it's a infra-red.

hahahahhahahahahahahaahahhahahahahahahahahahah

anyways, if it was anti-static, wouldn't the insertion of the key into the keyhole ground you? It doesn't seem necessary to have another grounding point

I think it's still a light a little that turns on when you pull on the door handle or something

I have very reliable "sources" for those who do not believe me. I think PULOVR does. It's an infrared receiver. I don't know of any Honda/Acura cars that offer(d) a light for the key hole. The grounding thing is also absurd. The key cylinder would do the same thing.
