i had someone say to me after i told them that i did not have, and did not plan on getting a stereo for my car "that's kinda ricey....don't ya think?"

so i'm wondering... what do you guys concider to be rice?

What a strange response. Well.................I would have to say that an engine swap, or added body packages to be rice. Would that person consider a bommin system in a Chev Venture rice?..............just wondering

For sure attitude...looks are just based on how much money you have and your age. Tastes change as you get older. At 22 I notice a big diff from 17 when I first bought my Civic.

I had a stereo....I had two diff't ones, but I ripped them both out and am stock-stereo'd now

Shredder, I don't get how a swap is rice? It's under the hood, where no one can see it. Basically, to me rice is a mod that is done to draw unneeded attention... like LED washers, stickers, Altezzas, improper lowering, loud exhaust....basically anything that is lower quality than OEM that is replaced when it didn't have to get replaced... you know what I mean?

I hate all this rice ****. Why does something have to be labeled. Can't we just do what we like, and if someone else doesn't like it then they don't have to look. I don't understand why if someone doesn't like something they have to give it derogatory terms. Rice to me is anyone stupid enough to call someone elses stuff rice, or anyone who cares if someone calls their stuff rice.

examples

1. Big Aluminum wing on a front wheel drive car that doesn't go fast enough to actually be able to use it.
2. LOTS OF STICKS (some are ok others are :P only ones on my car still are the Club stickers and Fusion)
3. Emblems that don't belong (GTR on a V6 Mustang)
4. anything from TOOL TYME in whitby
5. Fake racing seats
6. nipple lights (mine are for free just trade me the factory ones)
7. Anything from Ractie or APC on a Cavalier or Sunfire
8. In fact anything done to a Cavalier or sunfire that used Honda body parts or tired to look like an import
9. piles and piles of lights, the gay casper look
10. you car looks like this car...

i can't think of anything else right now

i myself have had some of those on my car or still on my car and im trying to change it. Some ppls car that have lots of lights (PULOVR) but look good do not be offend its just 2CENTS!!!

one thing that HAS to be rice is putting stickers and mufflers on vans and station wagons, and most 4 door american cars

How does upgrading your stereo considered to be rice
I believe rice is led nipple lights, any type of neon installation except for indiglo gauges, aluminum wings, shopping cart fiberglass wings, alot of graphics and stickers on the car, an enormous huge exhaust system, eurolights. That's all I can think of now

For me,
Big *** wings, stickers, altezzas, fake emblems, SOME body kits, LEDs, that neon light **** that goes under your seats,car. Also those big *** mufflers that sound like ****! Put tape on your lights to get that affect that makes them look worse than altezzes. Oh, those "cherry bombs" that they sell at CT for like 30 bucks, those are so crappy, but funny as heel to laugh at.

I have a few cars on my street that i consider rice. Theres a older gen prelude with ugly body kit, small wheels, HORRIBLE exaust. The only nice thing on his car is the interior. Custom white and black. Another guy across me with a RSX with a big *** wing on it. And the guy that lives again across from me, i do not like this guys car one bit. bbarbulo, i think you may know him (white house guys) His black civic. For me, that is rice. But thats his taste, not mine :P

I don't see how motor swaps are rice? THey give you HP/Torque. So i guess my brothers car would be considered "rice" because it has a motor swap. Before he couldn't beat anything and now he can kill 90% of the cars on the streets? I do not see how this can be rice.

Jacob, I know the character you speak of....he actually helps run one of the show divisions.... the guy in the black Civic with the nasty interior job. They put on that show on Riverside by the Casino. Anyways, yeah...I will restrain from further comment. That the b/f of the girl who drives the yummy lookin 1.6 EL. Don't know about the RSX though. Jeremy has that bomb *** RSX, it's soooo bomb, you guys in TO might see him at the shows with Redline Motorsports and Phat Boy Grafix if he still rolls with that crew. There is so many prime examples of rice in Windsor, I can't even list 1/10 of them.

Rice to me is like when someone is trying to be someone else, a car trying to be another car. Like a Civic DX trying to look like a Civic Type 'R. Bad body kids, aluminium wings, LED washer lights are not rice to me, just bad taste in car customization.

To me, rice is not whats on your car, but the attitude you have. If your talking to someone and they are the nicest guy/girl in the world, and know that all the mods they did to their car are for appearances only, and dont make them any faster, or dont have a big attitude like their car is faster or better than everything out there, then I resepct that, and respect their decicion to be different and dress up their ride.

On theother hand if there a stunta, and come off as a big shot with a huge ego thinking their car will smoke anythign out there, and because you dont have altezzas or clear corners thna your ride is ****, than their attitude and car is rice.

To me its all in the attitude, cause I know some people who have modded their car like that and do it because "they" think it looks nice, but there real nice people, I may not like it but I wont say something unless they have a big attitude like mentioned, and come off dissin my ride etc.
