it's easy to use, no more hasling with dozens of screens, they are tabs now, no more pop-ups, and i have a file so your browser (firefox) connect 16 times faster on a website then normally, so, yeah, i love Firefox . the only problem is that some sites don't allow firfox but you hardly encounter these, most sites accept it.

For the firefox-fanats

written below is a method to make your browser faster, and it works

no, i didn't make this myself, just found it somewhere

note it only works for firefox and for broadband
connections.

1. type "about:config" into the address bar and hit
return. scroll down and look for the following
entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

firefox typically makes one request to a webpage at a
time. enable pipelining will make it do several at
once, which really gives you a speed boost.

2. alter the entries as follows:

set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some
number.

Setting pipelining max requests to 32 really will make
your FireFox faster, however you can get banned on
some servers. That's because your actions can be
mistaken as flood attack. If you are afraid of this
possibility, set pipelining.maxrequests to 8.

3. right-click anywhere and select new -> integer.
name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its
value to "0". this value is the amount of time the
browser waits before it acts on information it
receives.

close and reopen firefox and there you have it.

i have been using opera for about 3-4 years now.. it also has tabs, and mouse gestures make everything so pleasant to navigate.. i can get rid of all tool bars and everything but the basics and it all looks so so so clean...

i don't understand how firefox is easier to use than IE.. but then again, i don't understand how anyone can listen to freestyle and euro either.

i think a lot of people just want to jump on some sort of 'i'm smarter than you cause i don't use IE' bandwagon.

IE will work faster than FF in some respects because it is part of the operating system. IE loads much faster on my PC.

FF is programmed better, it's only 4.6MB or whatever, while IE is over 20MB.

IE however has a lot of features included, while you have to install them separately in FF.

FF is not more secure technically, it just seems this way because it doesn't come with all of the stupid features IE forces on you. These features are insecure. You can install a lot of them for FF.

I use both. You need IE for windows updates (i do at least - i don't let bill automatically install whatever updates he wants).. and i use it for surfing more questionable websites.

I have FF for regular browsing, and my mom checks her email. i prefer FF strictly for the tabs feature and it makes Bill angry.

Other great things about firefox.. it is completely modifiable (If that's a word) I have my Firefox setup to notify me of incoming G-mail. I can click and drag any link and it will open it into a tab. I have a custom skin, or you can download them from the net. Also you can put Firefox on a USB key and run it without saving files to a hard drive.

Downsides are... movies don't seem to stream in media player when used in FF. and some sites don't fully support it.
