They are still going after the "image" and "profiling". Crushing a car that has been modified on the exterior will give most people the idea that they are crushing, indeed, a "race car". You crush a C6, people would think you are crushing a "stock luxury fast car", but not necessary, in this case, a "race car".

Let's face it, people who modify cars usually want their cars to be either fast, or look fast, or simply, look different. People who buy stock fast cars are most likely after financial and social status - who could be an ego tripper, or a humble business man who just happen to like high end vehicles.

A spur of the moment "heavy foot" on the gas paddle, to me, that is not really "street racing". What is your goal? What are you trying to achieve? Money? Are you going to lose your pink slip to the other drive if you lose? Terms get throw around too often.

Guys who have fast cars (stock or modified) and don't take them to the track, where are they going to test it? Or show off? They do so when they see another similar car. Rev it a bit, give the car that 2 second full throttle and then slows down. We see that everyday around us.

I would think, they are "speeding carelessly". Racing is such an high-end term that requires skills that these people simply don't have what it takes to be crowned under that phrase.

So, crushing a vehicle that has the "modified" appearance, that any idiot can recognize from a stock counterpart, will sends out the message more than that of a stock fast car. It is like killing two birds with one stone - you send out the message to those who like to drive fast on the street carelessly and causing trouble; and you also sends out the message to those who like to modify their cars in the wrong way.

Adding a wing might not be the wrong way, but there is no time to educate every person in the City when, most of them, don't even know how a turbo works. So what is the point of telling the public what has been done to the car, engine wise, when they can show a car that has some exterior features done to it that will give a more "visual" impact.

You crush a 4 door bone looking stock low end economy car that can deliver 400whp to the ground on TV, people would think "why the hell would you crush a grocery getter?"

You crush a car that looks different on the outside, most people will get the picture.

Is it profiling? On some level, it is. But we are all ignorant on some level, depending on what the issues are. We know cars so we can tell the difference. Be it another topic, we could be just as blind as those who don't know squat about cars.

I see a kid dress up like your typical "gangster", part of me would think that kid is up to no good. But I can't help it. Some may be kids who are just want to be trendy, but some might actually be, your real "gangster". Do I have time to analyse each and everyone of them and ask their background, why they dress the way they are, how do they do in school, what's their family like?

No.

As to deciding who is or who is not a street racer,
it's the driving and not the car that defines this.

Re walk looks talks, think hard about how such sayings get established.
If you dress like a thug and talk like a thug and hang out with thugs,
don't be surprised if people start to wonder if you are a thug yourself.
You know that a modified compact or subcompact is far more likely to be
driven "enthusiastically" than a bone-stock minivan.
So which is it?

Off-topic, got pulled over today infront of my house, cop takes about 10mins to get outta his car, walks around my car 2-3 times, walks up to me, gets insurance, license and registration off me, looks at it, gets a radio call asking where he is, says he's "10-7", tells me to have a nice day and drives off...

Thats what I call wasting 20mins of my lunch, WHY ? i dunno

Well Gallagher, I guess you'll never have to worry about that happening ever again (now that you sold your car).

As for...

Now they did say they were going to demolish ALL cars caught street racing.
Waiting to see if they'll keep their word. (I'll bet you they won't)

Just heads up ..
The other Corvettes caught on the 427 were taken and destroyed. The young man who had the collision and passed away was a friend of my wife's cousin. None of the vehicles reported in the incident will ever be back on the road....

Him (Myron) & i were casual friends too, we went to high school together, intense guy, kinda high risk from the start, i also know 1 of the other 2 guys he was racing against & he was considerate/honorable enough to attend the visitation for the deceased even though he knew the family considered him partly responsible

I remember Myron used to go for 1000 pushups before attending parties so he'd look good and pumped and we occasionally worked out together at the school gym

I'm an intern at the funeral home that cared for his family's case, & you coulda never told me i'd be arranging the flowers at his graveside in Oakville 6 yrs after we graduated together

So ppl, just keep in mind you're potentially talkin about (former) friends of other forum members when you call them dumbasses / morons / retards; just hate the deed

I am sorry that you lost your casual friend, but what would you have us call them? Heroes? They didn't die because of someone else's stupidity, it was their own, no one else's. Not to mention all the other street racers that are still alive, but not the victims of their "stupidity".
