It's not something I think about on a constant basis, but I know everyone has rough times in life, and that not everyone is where they would like to be in the socio-economic chain. Every once in a while, I like to think I can help someone out. As long as I know that my money is not going to moochers, but people who can really use the help. I also generally prefer to give charity in person, rather then through an organization.

If I was wealthy I would definatly be donating a lot more then I am right now though.

One thing I don't like is when people donate money for animals. I would much rather see that money go to starving kids.

^^99 cents is obviously not true..whats the point of doing any charity anyway.

i absolutely believe in charity, both from a social and religious standpoint. whats better than having the feeling that your money really helped someone who was in need and not as fortunate as you are.

I'm not really into charitys I would rather donate my team and help you instead of giving my money. 45% of charitiy money is used on management and marketing.

We do. What ever they do with the money is up to them but we like to make a contribution around Christmas (but should be year round). It's our way of giving back to the community and it makes you feel nice inside.

Definately, first hand look at why some charity organizations need to be created. My nephew has a very rare illness that currently has no cure www.travisbattle.com and the gov't has left us high and dry. Every cent we have raised goes directly to his care and making sure he is as comfortable as possible before he eventually passes.

no such thing as charity...I'd rather give a bum a beer than money and rather help out somebody than give them money...you never really know where the money goes...that donation pan at church or that salvation army bucket at the mall...might aswell just go out and buy yourself something instead of buying the "charity" chairpeople things...unless I see or fully well know its goin directly to the cause I'm not giving my hard earned money away.

charity begins at home.. if everyone just helped themselves and their own family to the best of their ability, the world would be an amazing place.

I don't donate to charities, I just do my best to make sure those close to me are taken care of.

i'd be interested to see where you guys get these numbers from because they're definitely not real numbers...

and the 99 cents is also DEFINITELY not true...

it all depends on the charity you support - make sure if you're gonna support one, that you check it out before you give 'em your money... make sure they're registered and look at their reports from past years... that way you won't be 'surprised' with how they use your money...

i pay plenty of income tax to support all sorts of socialist initiatives and causes. way too much in my opinion.

The opportunities are out there for everyone, some are just lazy

Opportunity is there in our country. But those kids in Africa are pretty screwed and I suppose they could use some money.

true but some also just have bad luck - OHIP doesn't cover everything, some people have to leave their jobs mortgage their houses just to treat diseases and illnesses... like i said not everything is covered by OHIP - for the majority the lazy thing holds true - but like Joonya said not everyone gets the same opportunities...
