i have an 18ft Lund Piker and a 16ft Legend.

Both fishing boats. Just sold our 16ft Smokercraft 2 weeks ago.

No need for 3 boats.

The lund has a 90hp Evinrude E-tec and the Legend HAD a 4stroke 45hp Honda.

The honda decided to blow a hole in its top end late last year so now we have to buy a new motor. Got any serious serious hookups on a 50?

As of August 15 of this year i believe, a Pleasure Craft license will be required for any boat with the power greater than 9.9hp.

It takes some reading and about 15 min to write the test.

Nice, we only deal with Evinrude and Johnson aka BRP. At the moment we have a used 50hp E-tec. I'll get some quotes, though i don't really think i can get any discounts for new outboards. The boat show usually offers the best deals. This year they had free digital gauges with built-in gps, fuel consumption, etc (value of $1000).

As much as i love Honda, they build the crappiest outboards.

okaayyy...so the used motor was sold a while ago. here's the prices for a new motor.

7240 for the 50hp E-tec
1215 for the install (includes water separating fuel filter, controls, battery, trim and rpm gauge, prop, all wires and hoses)
-150 (promo)

includes a free 2 year extended warranty on top of the regular 3 year warranty (promo)

We also have the new 25hp and 30hp models which were released this year

Just curious why you guys are commenting about Honda Outboards being unreliable? My uncle works for honda and knows the motors inside and out. We have a 1987 Honda 2hp 4 stroke and it runs like a champ still.

The first problem is 4-stroke, they don't produce enough power for the size. The second problem is that their emissions and fuel economy are terrible.
The third problem is maintenance.

Surely 4-strokes outboards are much quieter, though you'll end up falling asleep before the boat gets on plain.

At one point Honda build a good carb 2-stroke.

Maintenance is not an issue. Look at all the guys with I/O or outboards. We do oil changes every year, impeller replacements, transmission fluid, the works.

I admit 4 stroke are big, but allot of companies offer 4 stroke now and one day 2 stroke will almost be dead. We had a Honda 90 on a 17ft outboard and it had *****, so I dont think they are that bad.
