... WindowsXP Core Test + Results ...
So i've been contimplating for a while now weather or not my laptop was up to par for my usage..
its a P4 2.4ghz 512MB ram onboard ATI video wifi and such and such ..
i mainly use this Laptop to run 1 application for Djing
Serato Scratch Live
* NOW .... problem i had was that this program is heavy ... however my latop by far surpasses the minimum requirements however at some points i find that it ran sluggy ... most DJs i know that run Serato use ibooks/Macs and ive been until this point very anit-mac ...
So on monday i came across something VERRRRRRRY interesting...
i found a version of WindowsXP which had been stripped down to the CORE OS ... no extra applications ... no un-necessary services running all at once ... runs on as low as 12mb RAM with all services set to manual.. and as high as 32mb with services set to automatic ...
so i installed this yesterday on my laptop to see hopefully see some improvement in stability/performance... first of all .. its an un attended installation .. so you can basically pop the cd in .. and leave it and let it run while u do whatever u gotta do .. there are no prompts for info from the user ..
Long story short ... so far this OS seems to be Sickly interesting .. i only installed the OS and serato and gave it a quick test run last night and i was soo surprised to see how nicely it was running ... No lag from the system ... only lag i found was my external HDD ...
Question .. is there a way u can add USB 2.0 to a laptop by getting a hub of some sort ?

I think you stumbled upon an image of XP Embedded that happens to have the right drivers for your laptop.
XP embedded is used heavily in the industrial world, and allows you to customize what the XP image will have. You basically want the bare minimum of drivers and strip everything else. Most of the time these are then put on IDE flash chips, which are super fast.
As far as USB 2.0, you will most likely need to do what shlammed said. The existing USB port will not work any faster than it already does.
