people use the Orwell reference "big brother" for everything, kind of weak...in the 1984 it was referring to overpowering government, something you volunteer for wouldn't be that...if you don't like your school using turnitin, don't go to school...also I think most schools give you the option to "opt out"...

not that easy... you can but you have to talk to the prof to make 'alternate arangements' it's definitely not worth it...
and while they gave that option the first few years, it's totally gone now, you don't have a choice, you don't like it? don't go to school....
i dont' see how any honest student could possibly have a problem with this as it only catches people cheating...

i used it at ryerson 4 years ago... nothing new.. nothing to be scared of..
it allows a certain threshold of similarity.. obviously no one is writing anything ground breaking, so it will be somewhat similar to every other paper on related topics.. unless you blatently plagarize, there is nothing to be afraid of.
