anyone try painting their lip themselves?

i have a cw itr lip that i want to paint black
any advices would help
can i just used a can of black spray paint?

i've tried that , looked like crap, just spend like $80-$100 and get it sanded/primed/painted profesionally

ask ryanhook....he painted a WW RS lip black that was previously championship white.

he did an awesome job!!!!

i painted mine myself and it came out perfect....i will pm you later tonight with specifics of what i used..BTW i painted mine black also.

Sand it good, clean, paint. Sand with fine sand paper to remove the runs, etc. Paint again, and paint once more if you have to. Let it sit for a day or two and off you go.

Get some 3M Wetordry P400 and 1000 sandpaper... great stuff to work with.

That's all I did for mine. Oh, and I painted it with DupliColor Bumper paint.

Ok i never sent a PM but the steps are the same as ryanhook....but i used U-FIX-IT roll bar and chassis paint...it says right on the can "protects against road abuse". I put on 3 layers of black and 2 layers of clear coat...and i dont have 1 chip in it yet.
Just make sure you give the paint to dry in between steps.

Don't forget to use adhisive promotor. This stuff will help the paint to adhere to the lip better.
