False, show me where in the HTA or any provincial law for Ontario that is says HID are illegal if not from the factory. In the US they may be, however we don't have that law here...YET.

Hey Tego,

Your HID's are 6000K ProLumens right?

Are they really as blue as they appear in your Sig?

Yes they are the 6000 Prolumen kit from OptionJDM.

Just picture them a bit more white to them, but they are that bright. 1PhatCX can vouch for that picture as he took a pic as well.

yup, most cops don't know which cars come with and don't come with HID anymore, since so many have em now anyways...so not very many at all would trouble you, plus like i stated above. I've never seen anything HTA that bans it, but it will be up to a judge's interpretation when someone does get a ticket, but with more and more HID equipped cars, civic with HID are just fitting it...which is nice for us

i got a cheap mculloch HID kit, it only cost me $250. Its 5000k and im glad that the light isnt purplish/blue, its pretty damn white.

i installed it myself and mounted and hid the ballasts and ignitors well.
i think it looks pretty good, too bad im too lazy to get a camera and snap some pics.

Another general question...

For replacement HID bulbs, do they have to match the brand of the kit ?

i believe you can use any HID bulb you want, meaning any brand and K rating, but they last longer the halogen, so i wouldn't worry to much about that.

I suggest retrofitting, you get better distance in lighting, plus these HID's they sell at optionJDM last about a year or so, stock hid's last about 5-7 years. You'll end up switching your bulbs less often, and they are cheaper. People complain that retroing your headlights costs more, but only in the begining, in the long run, you'll be laughing...plus you get the perfectly desired cut off, not blinding drivers, and lighting up the road exactly the way you want to. On top of that, they are legal and they 4200K kits are so much brighter and still give you that blue/purple glare to oncoming traffic(due to the cut off). And finally, the retro-ed lights look super sexy when installed properly...be careful when you shop, a lot of the projectors found in some cars are exactly the same in others. ie. some mercedes projectors are the same as the bmw's, and Acura TL projectors are the same as X5 and Maxima projectors, but you'll pay $250 less for the maxima over the TL pro's...do some research dude, that's all I can suggest.
Just my two cents...

Any sort of Halogen bulb, they generally have the same output, just seem bright because they bulbs are tinted, HID kits actually provide brighter light.

depends on how much you drive at night, if you barely drive, then obviously your lights will last longer, and there are exceptions, generally, if you drive quite a bit, a year and they will burn out.

I have the same kit for about 1 1/2 years and never had any problems. I do not drive too much at night, but still.

As far as where to get them cheap, in my case i got it from e-bay. I saved hundreds getting the kit from e-bay rather than buying it locally.
