buy it and install yourself pretty simple. Most kits come with a installation guide with a do-it-yourselfer in mind. Can cost you anywhere from 150-300. higher priced hid kits are always not guaranteed 2 be better. the higher prices usually reflect a better known product or a seller who is well established. Better to look around and find something that meets your needs and satisfies your gaurantees.

Plug and play kits offer glare and scattered beam pattern. It may look brighter but you will never see the performance of an OEM HID. and it's hella annoying that everyone just throws on a kit and blinds the hell out of people.

convert over to a 9007 bulb rather than that dim 9004 bulb...the conversion is simple and buying new bulbs is cheap...light output will also be greatly increased

9004 - lumens 700/1200, max watts 50/70
9007 - lumens 1000/1350, max watts 60/70

i read somewhere you can make your lights brigher by using relays. you might have to look around but i do remember seeing instructions. the theroy is that the length of wire needed to go from the batery to the switch in the car then back out to the light uses a percentage of the voltage that your lights are rated for. so say for arguments sake you have an 18v bulb the resistance in teh wires might drop you down to 16v output and you arent getting all the light.

using relays you can use less voltage to tell your lights what to do, therefore more voltage going to your lights, therefore brighter lights.

and HID's arent reccomended for halogen inserts. plus the site that has that relay thing also said that cool blue light or daylight like that isnt the best for driving at night anyways. but to each their own. next week im going to get some 3400k bulbs for my car. i liked jdm better anyways haha.

oh plus if you think of just getting bulbs with the blue colour on them, they just reduce your light output anyways. you just think they are brighter but they really arent.

"daylight" 4300k tempurature is perfect for night driving...its when adverse weather like snow or rain comes in to play where you will want more yellow light like a 3400k or the likes as it will reflect less light off the water in the air and give you better vision of the road and obstacles...which is why "fog lights" are yellow and the beam pattern is more wide and low

but like I posted before, the 9007 retrofit is the best bang for the buck...no need to fuss with HID kits and all that, swap a couple wires, trim a tab and away you go!

Oh man, I feel your pain. My wife used to have a Pontiac Sunbird and that thing was brutal when it came to lighting. The headlights were so dim that I could see the car's reflection when another car behind me had its headlights on. I remember tried everything other than HIDs and no matter what I did, the headlights were still not powerful enough.

In the end I still think the problem was with the housing of the light and the lenses, otherwise I can't explain why the headlights were so dim.

Good luck to you.

Could an old bulb also be the issue? Mine are the ones that came from the assembly line, nearly 8 years old. I wonder if getting a new pair from dealer would help?
