a bit extra is like 1000bucks extra...and I know I can spend 1000bucks on many more things and not have a worry in my head about the paintjob

if goin to maaco, mask stuff yourself and take things apart yourself (remove lights trim etc...have it prepped nice and ready for em and ur good to go...plus not everybody can afford to spend 1500 on a paintjob when 500 gives you something more than adequate

honestly... im not going to pay 1500$ for a paint job, i paid more for paint already than i did on the whole car! so im more than happy with the paint i have on it and its hella glossy so...

nothing can change my mind cuz i already got the paint on... the shell is basically done now... and the kit has 2 coats on it so its almost ready too!

shoudl be done for monday...running!

depends what you consider adequate. Also if your doing it yourself why not spend the extra money on a 2-stage (base/clear) setup instead? Would still be cheaper and have a much better finish.

a gallon of paint will cost you 400 bucks and thats more then enough factor in reducer/clear/ hardner/ primer/ sandpaper/ bonda/ putty/ spot putty/ fibreglass/ resin/ etc... will still be under 1000.00

but thats just me.
and i dont want to continue going off topic so let me say good job and madd props for doing it yourself you truly are a handy man.

as for loudsubz the reason i do that is cuz you own a failure car with 1978 alpine speakers and deck:P

i did price out the base/clear and it was 550$ in this specific color and the acrylic enamel was 300 (with reducer and hardener...) so i decided to go this route and it looks good to me....

i dont need my paint to look show quality, its a race car lol

but thanks guys, i try to do my best

Please enlighten me on my failure car...Hey at least its not a POS civic with gay flares molded into the side...wooo woo look at me my car looks so cool

I own an alpine deck, and if you had 1/10th the knowledge I do in electronics you woulnd't be asking me questions on MSN

thats right...go on with your bad self buddy
cause he still owns that white civic right? Also the flares were welded on and if you think you can do that then id like to see it done.

Truth is the prelude is a failure car, the engines are problematic and theres a reason the line was discontinued.....

The prelude was discontinued because of low sales, it was pricey for a Honda, alot of people couldn't justify spending that much on a honda, maybe if it had an "Acura" logo on it, people would think it was worth the price...

The integtra was discontinued too, so your telling me the Type R was a failure car? Hmm sounds like it by your description.

The RSX S seems to be the closest resemblance to the Integra and Prelude combined

jay chris and matt, just lay off.... this thread is about matts nice DIY paint, which is hella cool. the debate about paint is a personal choice a person makes based on money, car, ability, and tolerance for crap. personally I think anything other than OEM paint is for me to poop on. but when the time comes, and I gotta paint my car.... then I gotta look at money, car, ability and tolerance for crap hahaha

anyways, matt, nice job with the paint. really, you are a DIY trooper.
