Clay bar question

Hey,

I bought a clay bar kit from CT (meguires I believe) and I did maybe a square foot or two and I noticed its really dirty(works well). When Do I need to stop using it? I noticed they don't seem to sell the clay bar separately from the spray so I'm stuck buying another kit. Can anyone advise?

Thanks
Jeff

Tear the clay bar into 3 pieces. Use one piece to do your car. Keep turning and kneeding the clay. The clay should outlast the bottle of quick detail that came with it.

Just don't drop the piece you're using or else you'll have to throw it out...it's useless as soon as you drop it.

try washing the car with dish soap first (USE DAWN!!!!)
sounds like you're not really washing all the dirt off first before trying to clay it..
you prob still have wax there holding the dirt onto the car...when you're claying you're removing the wax that's not coming off during the wash cycle..

wash with Dawn, claybar it, wash with Dawn again and then wax

I heard washing cars with dishwash soap was a bad idea. Car shampoos are different because they are supposedly "formulated" for car stuff.

Dishwash soap is for washing dishes.

dish soaps are designed to cut thru grease/oils/waxes..
in this case that's what i want him to do..
this is the last time he'll use it before spring.....in spring do it again
then wax and use "wax friendly" soap until following spring

i wouldn't clay a car this late in the season with the winter coming soon. the clay bar is really great. if you properly do this, the results are amazing. removes a lot of surface contaminants and residue. it takes a long time for me about 2 or 3 hours since it was the first time that i had done it. also, it leaves the paint really susceptible to having a damaged finish since there's isnt much wax or paint to protect the finish, not that it really matters in the winter.

and like he said use a good dishwashing detergent. just remember it will probably strip off the wax and polish that you spent a lot of time putting on during the summer. and if u have a dark colored car, don't use too much force since you could leave swirl marks.

I went to C.T. and tried to buy that Meguiars set and i couldnt find it. Is there other places to buy clay bars? Like a shop that sells only car detailing stuff? And what do you think the best wax is that they sell @ the retail stores?
-Mothers
-Megiuars
-Eagle one
-other (specify)

Go to any BarberShops ( the hair cutting place) they carry all Zaino products!! They sell the clay bar separately but it will cost you about $25.00. Square One has a Barber Shop and so does Erin Mills Town Centre!!! I hope this info helps....

basically it removes all the build up on the car so that when you wax it provides a nicer shine
