And did your bulbs shine BLUE, or were they crystal white with the bue tinge that shined bright white when the lights were on?
Understand the difference?

Clarify please.

Ie......

Blue like this?

or did it have a blue bulb, and it looked like this when on?

If it's the second one, that cop didn't like you, or didn't have anything better to do than to **** you off.

As long as the reflected/emited light is white, then it's ok.

Like this......

If the reflected light looked like this.........

.............then he had a valid reason to give you the ticket.

There is ALOT of misunderstanding when it comes to bulbs with names like.....Crystal white.....Plasma white......Ion white......(the list goes on and on.....)

Most blue coatings that are applied to bulbs, tend to help filter out the yellew light in the light beam (from what I understand). But the darker the blue coating, the more likely that you WILL see a blue light. I would go with as light a blue coating as possible....imo.

This is why some people THINK they are seeing a blue colour....even when they are not. They are so used to seeing the old style halogen headlights (they have a yellow tinge).

Xennon Gas filled bulbs "look" blue.....when in fact they are actualy very bright white.

ie....like these....... Halogen on the left....Xennon on the right.
.......(See attached picture below)

Both are WHITE.....it's just that the ones on the right are MORE white.

If I go and grab these bulbs at pmall, would anyone want me to grab a set for them too??
I was thinking about getting a set as well......one set for the front (chrome/orange), and a set for the back (chrome/crystal white.....for my reverse lights). I have no cash right now......if you do get them, let me know hw much you paid in this thread.....ok?

Thanks

Heres the pic.....

Halogen......................Xennon

if they emit a white light, fight it..
HTA prohibits a flashing blue light..
HTA prohibits tinted/coated lights, not bulbs (touchy but possibly do-able)

Here....take a look at this chart.....it helps explain the way light is seen......and why the closer the light gets to natural sunlight(clear/no coulour), that it tends to look blue.........ie ultraviolet light.

Real UV light can't be seen.....but you can feel it....ie.....a sunburn.

WHAT ARE CANDELA, LUMEN AND KELVIN?

CANDELA (CD)
The international unit (SI) of luminous intensity. The term has been in use since the early days of lighting when a standard candle of a fixed size and composition was used as a basis for evaluating the intensity of other light sources. This unit is used in measuring headlight output; basically the higher the number is the brighter the light is.

LUMEN (lm)
The international unit (SI) of luminous flux (quantity of light). For example, a dinner candle produces about 12 lumens and a standard 60 watt incandescent bulb produces 830 lumens. The higher the number is, the brighter the light is.

KELVIN (K)
A basic unit of thermodynamic temperature (colour temperature) used to measure the whiteness of the light output. The higher the number is the whiter the light is.

(and heres a chart to help you see what I mean)

So yes, according to that chart, the actual SEEN light of a factory bulb, is actualy MORE.

The whiteness of the Crystal white light... (high perfrmance halogen bulb) ie... "KELVIN", is more, but the "CANDELA" and the "LUMEN" is less.

For you to get the same (or more) output out of the Crytal white bulb, then you'd have to get ones with around twice the power....ie.....100w.

Then you run into problems with bulbs over heating, and wires melting....ect. That's why I haven't switched my headlights yet.....but I really don't care.....my factory driving lights help at night when i need more light.

you can just do the cheap way.....go buy duplicolour white multi purpose paint.....and spray paint each orange bulb....It has the same effect as buying those silver bulbs...ONLY TO BE USED WITH FROSTY CLEAR CORNERS...NOT EURO CLEAR.

Look at what it says on the box........there should be some kind of light output numbers like the ones I posted in the above chart.

Are you SURE they are not Xennon filled? Take a look again to make sure.

ALOT of the bulbs are coming with Xennon gas in them. They tend to run cooler, and are more effiecient when it comes to the amount of electrical power they use.....but that doesn't mean that are brighter, and give off more light.

Taken from the osram site:

"SYLVANIA's SilverStar halogen headlights are the brightest, 100% street legal halogen on the road- burning cleaner and crisper, with a white-hot intensity that will set you and your machine apart. SilverStar headlights are the only halogens that capture the high performance look of HID, changing your view of the night."

I thought Halogens didnt have Xenon gas, maybe I'm wrong but that's enough lightbulb talk for me

Anytime you spray paint a bulb, you will change the colour it gives off. (it lightens the colour.....washes it out, if you use a white paint)

The mirrored ones don't have any colour on the coating. It's like a 2-way mirror. Light can pass out, but can't go back in.

As for your comment about the corners.....

I've seen the mirrored bulbs in both.....and both look nice.

In a set of clear coners, it looks as if you have no bulb there when the light is turned off. It blends into the chrome backing of a clear corner. (really cool looking).

It's like magic.

Joker

I don't know how they can make that claim.

Halogen is Halogen. hey are all the same.......it's the coatings on the bulbs, and the wattage that chages. You can't get around that fact.

Halogen gives off a certain type off light that can't be changed(from what I know), unless you use a filter of some kind....ie a coloured coating.

Xennon on the other hand, is a different gas. It gives off a different type of light, they tend to run cooler, and most of the time, last longer. (most of the time)

There are +'s and -'s to both.

And remember, the housing that you put the bulb into, has a great deal to do with what you will see on the road.

The one store I remember having them in Pac Mall, was the one that has the 4 rims to the right of the entrance of the store. It also has a fake old tourch in one of their display cases. Theres usualy two guys at the back of the store behind the display case. The bulbs were to the right of them. This is also the store(I think) that has the dusty T-shirts on display behind the glass on the side of the store. Do you know which store I'm talking about now?

This pic is NOT of the store, but just to give you an idea of what to look for when you get there.....
