custom mesh grille with sedan

Hey guys,

This is in regards to the article about creating a custom mesh type R style grille, I have a 97 civic sedan and the grille on that one is chrome, which i can't stand and it also has a couple of extra srtips in the grille to cut.
Before i go ahead and start this little project i just want to know if anyone with 4th gen sedans has done this and would like their imput.
thanks !

p.s kudos on the black headlight casing article ..... i couldn't have done it without you!

You probably mean 5th gen (96-00). I've got a 5th Gen Sedan. I would reccomend picking up an aftermarket grille to be honest with you. The aftermarket grilles can be painted the colour of your car instead of that strange looking chrome grille. But that's just my opinion..

See what you like and work with that!

Yes sorry dude ... i stand corrected i meant 5th gen
I want to get an aftermarket but wouldn't it be possible to prime then paint over the chrome .... or even get a coupe grille somewhere thats already painted to my colour and do the homemade job that way .... that just saves me around $200 plus paint ..... unless you know someone sells them for cheaper then that .... let me know

Thanks

i've got one already cut out........it was originally(sp?) stock black, but i stripped the paint off it.....
its already got the grill on, and unless ure car is black, will need to be painted, which u can easily do yourself by making the paint, and doing it yourself, a huge article is somewhere in the exterior section started by Slvr-Bullet

Whops! I meant 6th Gen. Silly me. It was late and I had just come back from a jog. I remember writing that post and thinking 6th gen.

Uhhh, yeah, don't paint over chrome. The paint will start to flake and it'll look really nasty. Pick one up and get it paint it, or paint it yourself.
