Thumbs down Eurolite sucks **** in rain!

I just recently purchased a set of Eurolites heatlights for my dad probably 3 weeks ago. On the weekend, it was raining pretty bad, and the headlights performed on the 2002 CRV was so bad. It seems like the headlight was not even on, you can only tell by the signs on the road or if there is a car infront if you or if your alone and no streetlight. The roads were not lit up as bright as stock so basically I conclude Eurolites sucks in the rain. Is there another brand that makes decent performing lights in the rain, with the white/blue look. Are the F1Spec good, its only 25$

Yep, Eurolites and ALL other blue/purple tinted bulbs do perform worse in the rain. That's why I retired mine and purchased good bulbs from Europe instead (the Eurolites are still for sale by the way -- for a steal). If you want good performance in rain, snow, etc. you should use standard bulbs or yellow-tinted bulbs.

Here's the deal: Either you compromise your lighting performance by using blue/purple bulbs and get the "cool" look OR you live with the traditional full light spectrum colour white (i.e. non-tinted bulbs) and go without the riceboy look.

HIDs display a different colour light because of their high intensity (hence the name), NOT because of some tint on the bulbs. No matter what you do, halogen bulbs will never perform as well as HID. Stick with your regular bulbs (or order some Philips VisionPlus or European-spec Osram Silverstars) and invest in some high power auxiliary lighting (eg. foglamps, driving lamps) for those instances where extra light is needed.

this is true......you really cant get much from factory lighting unless u have HID. so stick with ur factory headlight bulbs and put on some good aux. lighting. i did this on my EG, whatever headlight bulb i put in that is on my price range, i dont get the brightness i want so i put on two 8 inch fogs and my visibility problems are solved. just my 2 cents.

Hmm...i guess i might be selling my brand new Eurolites too! I have them sitting here as a replacement for my PIAA's whenever they go but i dont think i want to be using them if it really is as bad as you say they are.

Well on Sunday around 8 when driving on Hwy7 with the headlights on in the 2002 CR-V, there were many cars, and well basically you couldn't see the light on the road, but if there is a car infront of you damn it shines! While entering langstaff going north on dufferin, there is minimal light and it looks normal, white light on the road and bright white signs. As you go up past rutherford where there is no lights, just some steep hills it performs pretty good, but when a streetlight or another vehicle light is nearby you can't see the road.

My dad doesn't have fog lights or driving lamps, maybe in 3 years going to get an aftermarket one.

you're lucky you weren't driving in fog.

White lights then spell certian death as they are really great for illuminating fog and nothing else.

I am waiting for the day where the headlights are pure white....for clear night driving, and with a push of a button, a yellow film would cover the headlight for those foggy days...and or rainy days. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh one can only dream.

If you don't want to spend much, I would suggest the Sylvannia Coolblues as they only have a light film on the bulb versus the dark paint/film on some other aftermarket bulbs (ie. your eurolites). I find the Coolblues are whiter than stock, and the light output is about equal to if not slightly brighter than stock bulbs.

Too bad we don't use 9006 and 9005. If it was really foggy and raining/snowing you would use high beams which will have really really cool bulbs with a yellow tint and you use low beams for normal driving, its getting there! Eventually we will invent some White/Yellow Single Bulb headlights.

Good idea but there's one flaw with it: you usually want to avoid using high beams in foggy conditions since it just illuminates the fog in front of you. That's why they suggest mounting fog lamps as low to the ground as possible and shooting towards the ground.

For night driving, Try out Sylvania 'Xtravision' at any sears service centre for 12.95 per bulb. OR The silver star sylvanias which are harder to find but the silver starts cost 35.00 per bulb in scarborough.

all around i've had bad experiences with aftermarket bulbs. I had a pair of xenon HID's for a while. I was pulled over a recieved warning numorous times, until they both just cut out on me one night... that was kinda scary. driving in the country with no lights except your highs... when a car was coming i had to go with just the orange side lights (whatever they're called), until the car had passed.

Needless to say i packed those in and put my stock bulbs back in. now i only talk to the friendly police officer every other week...

i did like the colour of them though. i thought they were cool. makes the snow look cool... they were white plazma or somethin...

Silver stars give you the white look, but are legal. They even give you a pamplet to show the police if you are pulled over.

Evening (10PM)
Dufferin/Hwy7/407/14

The roads are lighted up by streetlights not the headlights, you can see minimal sign of headlights on, only on higher level objects such as signs, cars, the road is amber, the colour of the streetlights. But one opposing car had very blue lights and I bet it sucked too. This oncoming vehicle highbeamed my dad because he thought my dad was using highbeams (SUV - higher - aim more directly to the guy) because I think he thought it was so bright so my dad flashed him back with courtesy.
