Front Bumper Mesh Grill

I want to know exactly how to do this on my 92 hatch. Also if there's anyone in Mississauga willing to help me, let me now.

it is easy to do, just take some cardboard and trace out the shape of the grill. Then all you have to do is trace it onto the mesh you are going to use. Grillcraft wants like $200 and i did mine for $15

Yes. Legacy is somewhat right. You're going to have to go to a hardware store (home hardware, or any small hardware store for that matter) and ask them for "chicken wire" or something like that. Hardware stores generally have very large rolls of the stuff. So just buy as much as you need, do the cardboard cut out thing, trace it over, and BAM! You're done! Just make sure you figure out how you want to attach it. The two more popular methods are zip ties, and liquid nails adhesive... Plan it out, spend your time, and it'll look great!

Best of luck!

Use "Gutter Guard" instead......Home Depot has the stuff.....$3-$4 each piece. The stuff is thicker, and it's also galvanized, so it won't rust like other material. If you're going to paint it, make sure you get primer that can be used for galvanized steel, then paint it any colour you want, after you prime it of course. If you don't use that primer, the paint will come off.(when you get the stuff, it will have a slight curve in it....don't worry, it is easy to straighten out. Remember to take off the clips that come with it.)
And while you are there, pick up some zip ties too.
Total $$'s......Under $10..........Under $20 if you want to paint the thing.:working:

PULOVR, is gutter guard 'tall' enough to fill the front gap on an eg hatch? I was going to reccomend the same thing, but a friend of mine tried it and it didn't fit at all on his eg.. He had all the bumper areas cut out professionally and it didn't fit.. That's why I mentioned the other method..

I have a 93 hb, and it fit on mine. (I left the plastic "grill" behind the mesh in place, that way I had a place to zip tie the mesh to.) But I still think it would be enough, even if you cut the plastic grill out. (Which I wouldn't do....makes the bumper weaker) There is not alot of "play" left, when you want to wrap it over the backside egdes. If you wrap too much, over one of the rear edges, you might be too short on the other side. That's what probably happened to your friend.

Cool Thanks.
I want to cut that black stuff out that there right now. So I have to take off the bumper and cut it out. I was told also by taking it off you can get it more curved to the bumper. Also to use silicon because it will hold it very strongly.

PULOVR: What to help me out with putting the grill in?

Before you do something that you can't fix...ie...cut out the "black stuff"., come on out on wed. night and take a look at my grill, and some of the other guy's bumper's. Then you decide.
I wouldn't cut it out, it will make the bumper a little bit weaker, and there is also another reason for leaving it in there......Come to a meet, and I'll tell you why.:working:

Thanks

Thanks for the info, I'm gonna go right now to Home Depo and get that "gutter guard" stuff.

The one thing I still don't get is how you zip tie it to the bumper? I know cutting out anything from the bumper so how and where do I zip tie it too? Do I have to make some holes in the bumper?

I used gutter guard... cost $20 for a package of 5 pieces (6" *36"). Here's some shots:

I didn't like how the top one turned out, so I re-did it again this morning:

You need to put a neon behind that grill.

Try this...

Check out my site. It will show you how I did mine (without cutting out the OEM black grille). http://riceboy.shows.it

My modded-grill is just a attached to the original one as well. I had to do it this way because the original grill attaches itself to the top of the bumper and then to the car.

How long of a job is it to do the grills?

If it's as easy as ya'll say how about we help this guy install his grills at one of the meets (please make it a warm one).

I wouldn't mind doing the same to my 92 hatch and I wouldn't mind helping out. I might actually learn something.......dumb guidance councelors

I did mine the same way you did yours... used thin wire to hold it in place. The only difference is that I painted mine black to stand out less.
