front windshield

I was driving about 110 in the right lane 403 going towards the QEW when some psycho 18-wheeler decides he's gonna do 140 by me in the left lane and a stone off his truck cracked my window about the size of a quarter or so. Is there anything I can do to slow down the ****** of the crack? My brother in law told me not to put defrost on the window...anything else?

I was told in the past to put a piece of tape over it do prevent grime and garbage build up in the crack b/c it makes it ******. You can also take it to a glass shop to heal it and stop it from spreading. I would do that and just avoid cracking it in the winter with your little squigy to get the ice off and just be careful not to hit it b/c a slight bang will make it ******. I had a crack on my winshield the size of a pinky nail over a year ago and still hasn't ****** a notch so you have alternatives on what you want to do about the situation.

i thought once it was ****** just a tad it was too late for glass places to do anything but replace the window? I mean it hasn't ****** on it's own, just when the rock hit it wasn't just one part...it has a little line moving to another little circle part.

ohh so it's not like a little spider web b/c thats what I though when you said the size of a quarter, if it's a wide crack then I don't think theres much to do but if it's small leave it. My old car had one line from the left to the right all the way down and one from the center of the dash to the bottom of the dash. Huge cracks and I drove it a year without problems. It may be a good idea to change it but I wouldn't unless other people have had serious incidents regarding this but I haven't so I wouldn't change it.
