well its like a cowl on a hood to let hot air from under the hood escape...dont do it if u have some puny stock motor under the hood or if your car isnt a hot tamale

i dont like the look, on jdm coupe council they did some testign on its effectiveness and i think the result was it didnt help performance, so if ur doing it for looks which imo it looks kinda weird like u got into an accident, do it!

 

-thats one of the reasons for it, i also think its different , motor aint' puny and motor hits my hood anyways so thats why i thought it would be better.

- for CF hood, more downforce on the front prevents any lifting from the air getting in and pushing the hood up. (no hood pins yet)

There are reasons for it, i was just wondering what to use to raise it. I don't see it being ghey either? its just choice of preference. Your not misaligning anything , you raising a piece to create more down force, just like a spoiler etc.

I guess everyone on honda tech is ghey

just cuz everyone on honda-tech has it doesn't make it ghey, but you're right it's totally personal preference but to be fair you did ask 'yay or nay' so you'll get peoples opinions...

my opinion is nay, wind will still get under your CF hood, raising the pitch a little at the top like that won't change how the wind gets under it at the front of the car..

 

Well i see what your saying,

but i believe with less wind comming in especially cf hood, and more pressure in the front it'll flow better, since you have your winshield to repel any other wind caught near the top of the hood. (I'm talking about going in a straight line, for slalom track purposes then i doubt this would be affective at all)

 

ya i hear ya, but going in a straight line having the wind 'fall' off the edge of the raised hood' and then hit the windsheild and then keep moving, you're going to create turbulence right at the back of the hood..

don't you think if this was the optimum way to go race teams would do this to their cars? i mean increasing your top speed or acceleration or wahtever even if it is only in a straight line with just a few washers?! what a deal~!!!

but also aside from the added turbulence created by drag (like driving with your sunroof tilted), think about what could happen if all that pressure is pressing on the back of your hood which is now not bolted directly to the hinges but a bolt through washers... i'd think that might put more stress on the bolts, nevermind more stress on the hood latch..

although i highly doubt anything would happen cuz i'm sure people have been driving around with it like that with no adverse consequences...

but if you're going to do it, do it for looks, don't do it under the guise of 'performance'...

ya i guess that also makes sense, like i said a few reasons was my motor was hitting the hood a bit, so in the process thought i'd raise the hood abit

maybe i'll try it out in summer for a bit see how it goes hahaha

 

ya, try it out, it's not an expensive mod and you can always 'undo' it if you don't like it...

Started by the old muscle car lovers, they did it to release hot air during idle and suck in cold air during high speed.

It is a simple mod, parts are practically free. Do it up and see how you like it. No biggy.

I won't say yeh or nay, it is more aesthetic than function (for what it actually provides) so to me, it is a personal choice.
