How to "De-Fog" Headlight Assembly?

Second on the DIY weekend list. Anyone have any experience with de-fogging the headlights?

Friend's 2000 Civic's headlights are fogged (from environmental damage and from the inside it seems)\like a smoky look.

I've seen some stuff at Canadian Tire that apparently gets rid of it incl. the yellowy colour (which happens to plastic if not taken care of) - but it also says in fine print that "light sanding" maybe needed.

Any suggestions as to how any of you have dealt with the problem?

to get rid of the haze on the outside i wet sanded mine with 800 grit if i remember right then went up to 1000 grit. make sure you take the headlight off incase you hit your hood or bumper while sanding. after i used some plastiX rubbing compound to get rid of any other marks. now they look like new, took about an hour, i took my time with it.

http://www.torontocivics.com/tccv5fo...hread.php?t=70 <-- good DIY for the out side.

as for the inside, take it apart, clean the inside out well, and seal it back up.

leave the car parked outside in the sun for a few hours and the condensation will disappear. Then check the lights to see how moisture is getting inside..some opening is unplugged
