Question How to install Varad LED?

Hi there,

I would like to install 4 Varad LEDs (12V) under the steering wheel area (ok not EXACTLY under the steering wheel...) on the driver's side and also on the passenger's side, under the glove compartment.

Problem is, I'm not sure where to plug in the black and red wires. I was looking at the wiring ciruits and all that under the steering wheel but I couldn't make out where to plug in the wires.

Anyone has instructions to share? Photographs/pictures would be extremely helpful too.

Thank you very much!!

are these to be hooked up to your alarm, or when do you want them to be on?

are they 12V LEDs... what I recommend is to have them turn on when the car is on ACC power - that way you'll never leave them on by accident overnight, and light your whole interior up for the thieves, ya know.

Way to do that is to take the deck power wire (there are two - constant and ACC)... tap into the ACC power wire (a 3M tap is good enough for low-draw) and run a single line right to the power wire on the LED cluster. For the ground, run a wire to a bolt in the metal dash skeleton and instert a simple switch in this line - this will allow you to turn off the LEDs as you wish when the car is running. As soon as the car shuts off the LEDs will turn off too.

no, I think she wants to light up the interior while driving... if it was for a fake alarm I'd pull power from the battery and hook it up to a reverse relay (normally closed).

A stereo shop should be glad to install them for you for a small fee... it'll get done right, and it won't cost very much. Wiring is not something to be taken lightly.

red......constant 12V

Find a fuse that that has a constant powersource with the car off.....ie....hazzard light fuse, or headlight fuse.

black.....ground

Find any GOOD metal bolt that conects to the car's body, and put the wire under it, and tighten the bolt down.

yellow.......trigger.

You can run this to a little switch (whatever kind of switch you like), and then run the other side of the switch to the ground wire.

When you turn the switch on, it will ground the yellow wire, and the Varad scanner will turn on. Turn the switch off, and the scanner will turn off.

BTW, which Varad scanner did you get? Is it one of the scanners that have a real little black rubber push button on it? It yes, then the scanner has more than one pattern.

If you need help installing it, I can do it for you. Takes about 5-10 minutes to do.
