Tell me you've never been blinded by a BMW's lights? c'mon...
sure a retro might be the best way for performance from the bulb, but it's not only the reflectors that are killers. Let an escalade pull up behind you at a light and say you don't have to flip the mirror up...

B/c an Escalade sits 3 feet higher than a normal car sits. Even with regular halogen lights, it still blinds drivers in passenger cars if it's an SUV or a truck.

this guy is right.

i've been looking alot in to this now looks like the only way to do this is retrofit, cause ive read that the 1piece projectors off ebay only fits h3 bulbs and the projector itself is ment for foglights which dont allow as much light output?

someone confirm/deny this.

thanks! i think im going to go with the tyc 1piece for now cause i like how they look, and when i get enough money do a retrofit.

it def. shows that the retrofit has much much better light output.

Don't forget you won't be blinding other drivers with the straight cut off line!
My 1 piece tyc was very hard to retrofit, Glue material wasn't the same as OEM and won't melt when you put it in the oven. And putting it back together was almost impossible. But i somehow made it possible anyways =)

damn thats will be a project and a half for me then...
how is the cutoff line of the stock tyc? i know you can see it in the picture but what about from a point of view of the person infront of you? much glare still or alot less if the hids were put in stock reflectors.

also i thought 4300k didnt have hints of blue..

The cut off line is ok, it's not totally straight, and you will have lots of hotspots in the beam pattern, if you aim it low enough it won't be blinding. But you will loose light distance. I wouldnt' put any kit into a reflector housing, most of the glares are from reflector housing.
With my retrofit, i can see wide and far down the road, and also light up the street signs very well without blinding on coming cars.

The blue you see is from the cut off, not from the bulbs.

All aftermarket plug and play kits are illegal. All aftermarket headlights that arn't DOT/SAE approved are for offroad use only also.
Even a retrofit is illegal cause you modifed the stock housing.

You just have to do what attracts the least attention. Maybe the cop will let it slide.

So...if the housing are DOT/SAE approved, cuz some aftermarkets say so on the sites where selling. This means everything is ok then? i have seen lots of cars that dont come with projectors with them, so just curious.

TYC is mostly DOT and SAE approved, also DEPO too..you just got to look at which are approved and which are not.

This is why i want to know prior to getting them, as different housing will change my HID bulbs, I want the projectors so I dont have to do a retrofit, its already done! Just gotta make sure its DOT approved now...so FOR SURE if i get approved housing projectors and put HID in, it would be legal and less heat from cops?
