Marker light wiring

Being as difficult as I am I wanna install some marker lights with a 3-way switch. I want to be able to the settings"
1 - constant off
2 - constant on
3 - on with indicators (think this is the normal way...on with parking lights and blinks with indicators)

How hard of a job would this be? Don't know much about car electronics but I'm learning on the way. Thanks.

Assuming you have a 3-way switch this is not difficult to do. You just need to find circuits with those characteristics and tap into them.

I don't know how difficult that setup would be, but to give you an idea of how I have them set up (constant on with parking lights, constant off) you would have to make the holes in the fenders for the lights, get the wire through the inside part of the fenders (this is a bitch to do)for power and ground and splice the wiring for the power. I would say that it is too difficult, but rather a pain to do.

very doable

just don't half *** it and have a constantly on side indicator

that looks stupid

there was an article a while back on how to tackle this problem.

let me look

1 - constant off (do you also want it off at night, or only during the day?)
2 - constant on (same question)
3 - on with indicators (think this is the normal way...on with parking lights and blinks with indicators)

All you have to do is use only the "power 12v" wires from your corners.

The corners have 3 wires......
1. constant 12v (when when headlights are on.)
2. 12v flashing (use a multimeter set for 12v range to find out which wire is which)
3. ground (no voltage)

The aftermarket side markers have only two wires....... To get the sides to light up when the headlights are on AND to flash when you signal (both options, ony at night when the headlights are on), hook it up this way.....
12v constant..........goes to the white or red of the side marker.
12v flash................goes to the other wire of the side marker
If it doesn't light up when you turn on the light's (this is only for the one's that have LED"S in them) swith the two wires on the marker light around.
I hope this is what you wanted.

Is there any place in the GTA where they know how to install JDM EK sidemarkers? i.e. where exactly the sidemarkers go, how they function and how much should I expect to pay for installation?

Tenks.

RPN Auto Sound....Dixie & 401.....on Britania Rd. Just west of the airport....
Lito, Tony, or Rual can help you out.....905 795 1991
Tell them that Alan sent you......(you do know that there is cutting involved in the install of those lights, don't you) And once it is cut, you have to protect the cut metal from rusting.....rust protection is not included.:working:

Thanks.

I went to RPN-the guy there was very helpful and friendly but I don't think they've installed JDM markers before. The markers I got have little metal clips attached to the sides, they come with bulbs that have little prongs in back. Would like to get them installed by someone who's done this before and knows exactly what's going on.

Again, help....thanks.

That's strange......Tony (little skinny oriental guy) has done lots off them. He even has the template to make the (location/shape) work go faster.
They even have pics of a blue car's fenders (close-up) as soon as you walk in the door. The owner on the otherhand, has never done them....that's what the installers get paid for.

I'll bring the sidemarkers with me next time, maybe he'll know what to do with 'em.

Does anybody know how the JDM EK markers work? i.e. are they always on, or do they only work in conjunction with the turn signals? Just wanted to know.

Thanks.
