Need to paint lip kit...HELP

Hey guys,

I got a rear lip, and I'm in the process of looking to buy a front lip and side skirts for my 92 civic hatch. The rear lip is white abs and the front lip im getting a spoon replica in white abs. The side skirts im not sure yet but i might aswelll get them all painted the same.

I was wondering if anyone knew where i could get it painted and how much it cost to get this stuff painted in flat black?? I just need to know roughly so i have an idea of what kinda money i might be spending.

OR

Has anyone painted their lips themselves??? If so what is the list of materials needed and what are the steps??? Did the paint hold up well?? Did it chip or fade???

Which of the two options do you suggest?? should i pay for someone to do it or should i do it myself???

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanx

I would suggest having it painted by a professional. In this case, you should PM Team_Rukus, he is one of the best painters on the forum.

If you are still interested in painting the lip yourself. Ryan_Hook has kindly posted a DIY on how he painted his front lip:

Good luck!

i say paint it yourself, it doesn't take much at all, just take your time...
the abs lips in general are already preped for paint, need very little prep done to them if at all, and fitment is generally great on them...
there is very little surface area on the lips and little imperfections can barley be seen if created. i say paint it yourself it will save you a good penny, and give you the experience...

if your just gonna paint it flat black i would go to CT and pick up some cans of matte black paint, plastic adhesion promoter and matte clear coat. just give it a light sanding and fix any imperfections. Then use the plastic adhesion primer, then paint then matte clear. IF it doesnt turn out nice then you can always pm team rukus to do it for you.

well i think it would cost me more to do that..... id rather just paint it flat black right now and then a year or 2 down the line when i paint my intire car then it will be all the same color.

Back on topic, here's a better of shot of what the bumper coating looks like. This was for another vehicle that I did.

im pretty confident with my painting. I've painted several interior pieces and ive painted my spoon replica spoiler for my hatch. I was just more conserned about these lips because they are lower to the ground and are easier to get dammaged or hit by stuff. I think im gonna do it myself though. Gonna wait a couple months before i do it due to weather and other factors but i'll post some pics when i do...

thanx alot for your help guys.
