Plug and play HIDs

I've been doing my research through the forums about HIDs and wud like some more opinions about them... I'm thinkin of getting the 8000k two bulb HIDs from hidlighting and am wondering if itll blind a hell of a lot of ppl when im driving. I'm driving a 97 civic. I dont really wanna go expensive and retrofit although i understand they'll look a lot better... So would these blind ppl? or shud i just go for a set of white/blue halogens... if halogens then can you recommend a good set and suggest where i can get em? input is appreciated.

Thanks

i've got 4300K or is it 4500..not sure..one or the other..drawing a blank. but anyways..that's all you need. any higher you are attracting unwanted attention from cops.

i was always told 4300K was the brightest. The higher the K the more colour it produces making it less bright

Kelvin = colour temp.
Lumen = brightness

From http://www.hid-conversion-kits.com/
4100k - 4300k is the ideal HID color temperature to produce the maximum amount of light, lumens, hence the reason while all OEM manufacturers equip their vehicles with these types of bulbs.
It almost seems that you're confusing Kelvin and Lumens. Going higher in Kelvin temp. (after 4500) won't net you a brighter light than a lower Kelvin.

Again from that site:
Color Temperature is a measurement in Degrees Kelvin that indicates the hue of a light source, in this case the HID bulb. People not familiar with lighting may believe that the higher the Kelvin the brighter the light will be, this is false.

it's neither.
what blinds people is when they are stuck into the stock housing, or if the projector is mis-aligned.

HID's are brighter than stock bulbs. When you put the HID into the stock housing the light isn't distributed evenly and effectively and get's shone up high, and way out to the side. Etc. If you know someone with stock HID's look at the "cut-off". The light has a very distinct edge, and doesn't blind people...

Retrofit your headlight housing, and then get the 4300 up to 5000k.

These will be true white, up to a slight blue tinge at the 5000k mark. The retrofit housing will ensure that the light is evenly ****** and won't blind people, assuming they are aligned correctly.

Plug and play kits will be blinding.

To all the people that say it's great, Post the pics of the cut off against the wall at 25 feet. Then that will be your answer.

nah, in the stock housing will only adjust enough for halogens.

Either just do it, or buy those blue headlights from canadian tire. This horse is dead

just buy good halogen like nighthawks ..or any bulb without the blue coating....
If you want HID you should do it right the first time.
