Angry Rear quarter panel damaged!!

So the all season tires and the freaking snow finally did it!!

Today it snowed around 9:00 PM again, and going home passing a turn at about 15-20Kms\h around my house, the rear end came out and hit a god damn tree that just had to be there! The whole rear quarter panel is smashed! Paint is cracked, chiped, ripped-off, metal is twisted and smashed (didn't notice any metal rips) and its very deformed. Need the rear quarter panel to recive a major body work and of-course paint. (Bumper is OK)

I wanna take it to the dealer to have it done properly and clean. Maybe they could shave off the couple rust bubbles mean while they do the repairs, too.
This is gonna be a major attack to my wallet, but then what to do; **** happens.

Any idea how much this will cost?

If you're on a tight budget, I wouldn't suggest taking it to the dealer. Take it to a shop that you know does good work, and it shouldn't be near as much as the dealer would charge.

ouch... what would be even cheaper is if u go to the yards and find a 1/4 panel and buy it there.. then bring it to a shop for them to replace/paint

Well the sad thing is, this time there was no ebrake involeved. I knew it wasn't the night for that and I was being VERY careful. Otherwise I would know that I desered it...

I can't leave it for later, since the bare metal is showing and it will rust to sh*t.

$1200 Holy Sh*t !!! I was thinking $600~$900 MAX !!!.
But then its pretty damn smashed! Sh*t that just sucks....

well look at it in comparison to other body work...to paint a bumper and thats paint and maybe some prep is $200+ just for a bumper to painted...and what u need is a new panel, paint, the panel installed etc etc etc...just to paint that are woulda been $200+ the panel is prolly another $200 labour to cut, weld and blend in the panel is another $200+...so if you take it to a smaller body shop that does good work you may be able to get it done for between 600-900...go get estimates and make sure u tell em you are not claiming it through insurance and ask them for a cash deal.

when my old civic got rear ended one shop quoted me 2600 and the other smaller mom&pop shop quoted me 1800 (and they were gonna fix more)

The dealer will rape you no matter what, they will add all sorts of **** to the cost...find a smaller shop with a good rep.

I see what you mean bro... I have to get some estimates...

Well there is another thing. I got hit from behind couple days ago. This guy hit my bumper and it got all scuffed-up. The guy then refused to give any info of himself and gave me a cell# and drove off. I called his cell the day after and found out he wasn't gonna do anything about it. So I reported it to the collision center with his Plate#, cell # he gave me and the Make and model of his car and etc... So now I have a "No Fault Accident claim" from my insurance to fix the bumper. Now I looked the other day and found out the bumper had pushed the quarter panel and cracked the paint over the couple rust bubbles of the rear panel. So that gave me the idea that it would need the rust to clean and then paint the area, which is next to the recent damage place.

Now, do you think that I could pay for the body work, and leave the paint job for the insurance to pay along with the bumper? Maybe if I found a shop that would do such a thing? Do you think that is a good idea?

what u can do is get insurance to pay for the damage on the claim/or give you the cheque so you can find a shop yourself and while you are at the shop ask them to fix the other stuff and u wanna pay cash...just dont tell them its an insurance claim...dont goto the insurance company's shop tell them you wanna take it to your friends shop or whatever and they will give you a cheque...cash it/put it in your bank, take your car to a shop that will do a cash deal for a good price and get them to do the whole thing at once...and u end up payin less for the damage u caused.

has insurance already looked at the car and told you how much they are gonna give to fix it? more than likely they will give you more than what it costs cuz the shop over quoted them in the first place. My mom did the same thing when she got rear ended and needed some other body work...its a great idea!

Man, you give me hope!

I was supposed to take the car to the dealer on an already booked appointment next week and take a rental. There was no quotes of how much it will cost however, the Insurance just assigned me to the dealer I named for them. I guess I cancel that and call and ask for the check.....

I wonder if they will give me any cash and how much...?
Wouldn't they say to get a quote from a shop first?

Thanks man.

I took it to a shop that does body work. The guy is Ok. I don't know if he does AMAZING work or what. But he said $850 should do it. Hes gonna take off the rear quarter glass, the bumper, gutt the interior and repair the body. He said he will just fix this and no cutting or welding. He said he will also shave off the rust and paint the quarter panel and my bumper. I jus hope the paint will turn out OK.

The guy has a Red 6gen Si coupe with a full kit, projectors+ 8000k HID, two spoilers, GSR hammers (the better looking ones) and a JDM B18c TypeR motor in it! I just don't know why the hell he drives it in this waether!

don't let him just shave off the rust, get him to cut it out, or you'll just have it back again by spring
