**** - I melted one of my headlight
Guys....I fucked up big, this is the most fucked up thing I have done to the car.
Don't know if you guys can help me think? Any thing is appreciated, I know I can always count on TCC for help, it has never let me down before.
I did my Black JDM headlight according to the TCC article. One thing the article forgot to mentioned was that - not all ovens are the same. I put the temp exactly what the instruction says and I never waited for 10 mins to check, I checked after 5 mins. Now, the back of my headlight assembly is 20% melted - with some mod, I did get it reinstalled prefectly. the problem is, the clear part of the headlight, got melted too. I am getting some crazy *** beam pattern that's in your face beam, no matter how you aim.
All I need is to replace the clear part of the headlight. This following is the company that make the assembly. http://www.koito.co.jp/f_index.html
I have tried to translate the contact info, but was unsuccessful.
Don't know if anyone else has this problem or knows anything.
Any suggestion is appreciated.
Thanks

yeah clear ou thte sent items.. anyways as for the head light issue wasn't it suppose to be like 10 to 15 seconds in the heat ... enough to warm up the silicon but not enough to cook it .. also it matters what burner you put on since heat from the top is different fromt he heat fromt he bottom

Why would you do this??? Why bother melting the glue when it'll just come apart by itself with enough prying. Anyways, if you call a bunch of body shops, they may have headlights with cracked housings but the clear part is good. They toss em out.

D dot T: My melted headlights is worst, the back and fronts are melted. The front is messed up so bad... the shape of the headlight is different.
I took me 3-5 mins to melt mine not even close to 10-15 mins.
B... that's a good idea... should of asked before doing this project. I guess I messed up big...

Where you went wrong, I'm guessing is that the headlight was on too high a rack, so it got broiled basically Haha... learn from it, don't beat yourself up over it. Look on ebay, you should be able to find somethig in the next few weeks most likely...some less than perfect examples that you can make it work from. But ya, body shops just toss out the old ones, so if you can find a place that specailized in Toy's then you're in the money.
