Spray Lubricant

Spray Lubricant
Does anyone know what kind of spray lubricant that the dealerships use to lubricate the door, hood, trunk, hatch hinges? All I know is that it looks white and thick. I'm starting to do my own oil changes and tune-ups, and I wanted to make sure that I try to do everything that the dealers might do. Thanks!

WD-40...the miracle worker!!!
I have an auto mechanics friend who said it might be lithium, but there's an added ingredient, some kind of waxy filler to prevent dust or debri from getting in the joints and hinges. the dust and dirt will actally act like an abrasive and wear down the joint. Surprising what a little dirt and dust can do over time. Gotta remember to help the wife vacuum the house!!

It says in my Honda shop manual to use lithium grease. So I guess i side with that camp. You can easily find it in a spray can at Can Tire.
As Buff said, WD-40 is like a penetrating oil, if you haven't greased the doors and hinges for a while, or if it's clogged with dirt and sand, I would spray WD-40 and clean off all the crap, then re apply the Litium Grease

My friend (SilverCRXSi) went to the local dealership and bought a can of the grease they use. I believe it cost $20 (correct me if I'm from SilverCRX) and it's a big spray can. Good stuff, especially for sunroofs, doorhinges, etc. I sugges picking up a can.

JaySi is right. my buddy works at GM and he go me a can of the stuff they use for about $20. i've used it two months. the only thing is the can does not say what type of lubricant it is. it just says "Spray-Lube A" so this is of no help to you guys. just go to the dealership and buy it. better than getting something from crappy tire and then using it on your car and it not working as good.
just my 2 cents
