Targa Civic, heh

I just had this wacky thought last night.

Take my car to an auto glass place, ask them to enlarge my sunroof by extending the opening all the way to the rear passenger seats. That’s almost double the size of my current sunroof. Cut a bigger hole in the roof, take away the ceiling light, cloths and everything. Then place an auto glass on it, sealed all the way around and tint it a bit.

Sunny all year round, no worry about water leaking anymore. I think it sounds like a good idea to me!

They have such things... but not glass, rather canvas like convertibles, and it slides open... They might have glass ones, but I've never seen it.

lol I called a lot of places and they said it cannot be done and reason being that it needs a housing to support the roof or else the car will crumble on you.

But that canvas looks like some of the old cars back in the 60 or 70s eh? Interesting...

It would require so much frame work to strength the roof... it is one helluva job...

Not to mention heat lost during winter. But anyway...

That moon roof thingy is exactly what I have in mind, I wonder if that can be opened? I asked quite a few places in town and so far no one can do it...

I would rather go with that then rag top.

How would you expect it to open... there is no space for it to go... a reg sunroof slides inside and towards the back, and those other ones slide up and back... there is no place for that thing to. It may pop up a little, but what would be the point. I think the glass roof concept is cool... fixed roof like that one. Only thing is... looks like it may hold water when it rains.
