Wheel Mounting Weights

I had my tires mounted on my rims but the only weights they had at the shop were the clip on ones that go on the outside of the rim. Looks ****ty and they need to go. Does anyone know where you can pick up the stick on weights which go on the inside of the rim?

Do they sell them though? My wheels are already balanced, I just need the weights to replace the ones on there.

Take your wheels to wheel and tire zone...they will rebalance them with sticker weights and take off your clip weights.

I took my rims there...they do a great job.

Take them to wheel and tire zone...they'll accomodate you.

You can't just take off the clip weights and stick on the sticker weights...they will have to be re balanced.

Why would they need to be rebalanced. If the wheel is balanced with 25 grams of lead at a radius of 8.5" then it doesn't matter how its attached.

They need to be re-balanced because your are changing the location of the weights on the rim. You can't just switch to the sticky weights, if you do have fun getting the shakes in your steering wheel.

Trust me on this one.

Once you install the weights, tape them down for insurance.

stick on weights are crap...and yea do tape them down unless u wanna lose em down the road one day...sure the lip weights look ugly but they do a helluva better job than those stick on weights

and yes, u gotta rebalance the wheels...its like swapping suspensions and not re-aligning

LMAO

they have to be rebalanced because the weight is being moved to a different location ....

however if yoru insist on just buying the wieghts I'm sure Pete or Andrew can accomadate you

LOL. I take it none of you guys are big into physics. You know that the weights come in multiples of 5 grams right? The difference in position between the two would account for a weight change of less than that. The wheels aren't "exactly" balanced at the moment, the change in position is not going to make much of a difference, as long as you do it right. I'll update you guys on wheel shimmy when I'm done.

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me about my alignment Cynikal. I swapped suspensions last week.

to be more specific your moving the wieght from the lip where those wieghts mount to the inside of the wheel rim... this is a change of about an inch towards the center of rotation and therefore constites a need to change the wieght you place on it... since it'll have a different effect on the balance...
