2000 honda civic flooding problem

My 2000 honda civic (si 5spd) had a hard time starting last night. I brought it to my mechanic today and he said that I flooded the engine. He fixed the problem and my car started no problem. He also told me that I had a fuel pump problem. So my mechanic told me to tap the gas pedal before I started the car. I got home and when I tried to start my car agian I did not tap the gas and the car does not start again. I am just going to change out the fuel pump.

But my question is How do I un-flood an engine?

Thanks

Fab

floor the gas pedal while cranking, 100% throttle position with RPM<400 causes the ECU to stop firing the injectors, thereby clearing excess fuel from the cylinders. or you can pull the spark plugs out and wait for the gas to evaporate.

gas flooding is USUALLY caused by weak spark. I've seen it caused by over fueling as well, but in both cases that i've seen this, the car needed a tune-up as well. So, make sure your mechanic checks your ignition system (which I'm sure he did).

To de-flood it, all you can do is what bruno recommended.
