you can get a free flowing exhaust system and maybe a different camshaft/valvetrain to help squeeze a little more power out of it.

Yes tuning will help, prolly not as much as you'd like, but it will definately free up some power and make the car drive smoother.

Awesome thanks...it has a full exhaust which i forgot to mention above...I had a stock hatchback with a 1.5L in it before and that one seem to have a little more guts then this one...

I dont need anything crazy but i do tow a small trailer with a dirtbike on it so a little less sluggish with the trailer would be good..

I read alot of things on here and i hear that you are the man for the tuning...would you reccommend the cam and valves and then do the tune...what would a price range be for that.

well you say the 1.5 felt peppeir than your car currently... an odd statement given a roughly 20 hp difference between the two (in favor of the coupe). I'd start with a compression test and a good tune up. getting the car running right the way it came from the factory is usually good for some power. SCC did testing anytime they started a project car, and the easiest gains came from just a simple tuneup.

oh, and you want to do that anyways before you start with the cam and whatnot, just to get max gain. also, no need to spend money on the engine if the compression test reveals a problem. you could easily put a cheap B18B in there for extra torque and towing capacity. if you tow often enough, i'd also consider more heavy duty pads for the brakes.

ya man just as bbarbulo u can just put in a B18B in there and you will get more torque and hp. I think maybe in the long run it would be better. but thats just what i think lol.

i have done a full tune up, plugs wires, cap, rotor, injector flush, timing was checked and set, compression is great across all 4. The breaks have been updated and the rears coverted to disc...

Also would a B18B be just a plug and play engine or would i have to do mounts and harness and ecu as well...
