b16a first gen OBD-0, stock everything else in a 91 hatchback. Apexi vafc (will be removed first thing tonight) 2 1/2" exhaust from manifold back, and B&M fpr set to stock.

So on my way to and from scarborough last night (picking up a friend) my car started acting weird. First just felt a little down on power, having a hard time doing 160km/h on the way there. Picked the friend up and then it started, acting like a rev limiter at 3500rpm. When letting off the gas popping and almost backfiring. first i thought it could be a fuel pump, but its not running at lower pressure. why didnt honda make an external coil that would be easy to diagnose and replace...?

Anyways, I am in need of an ignition system now. suggestions and referals would be great, let me know what you have. Thanks
