Back 2 Basics, B16 breathing...

hey guys, looking to make some upgrades for the spring season, and i just ha d a quick question and maybe sombody can lend a hand here.
1st off the car is a 2000 SIR
(its my daily summer car btw) the engine is stock except for a k&n drop in and apexi n1 catback. I'd like to make it a little quicker but still keep is DD.
so here is the plan I'd like to upgrage the rest of the basic items I/H. TB/IM. so basically my question is aside from having upgraded the intake/exhaust will i benifit any from a new IM/TB combo much without doing any head work. eg.
cams/valvetrain>?

thanks

the stock b16 intake manifold/throttle body suits a stock b16 pretty well actually.

If you wanted to change the cams, i'd use ITR/CTR cams....they work well in b16s. B16s typically don't like lots of lift or super long duration, unless they're really worked on with higher compression and porting.

I'd get your bolt-ons, cams, valvetrain and go for some tuning, you'll be prolly pretty happy with the increases over stock.

ya, thats what i was thinking, ITR or equivelent cams+valvetrain and jdm ITR header. like i said im going to keep things fairly mild, more OEM type performance, but with a bit more power. and id like to stay N/A for now...

zeeman's advice is perfect. You won't get anything major out of the b16 without spending a lot of money.

However, some valvetrain work, I/H/E and some dyno tuning by zeeman himself will give you some pretty good reliable power.

Yes I do tuning.

I don't have any firsthand experience with the megan header, but the JDM ITR header is decent. I had good sucess with the vibrant j-spec 4-2-1 header on my n/a b16.

$600? Not sure i'd pay that much for that header.

I paid $400 for mine, and a few buddys have grabbed them for about the same price. I bought mine from a good buddy who had a link on them (at the time) and I'm not too sure where my buddy's bought theirs.

hmm, ok well im gonna keep my eyes/ears open for a better price. that was just one place i saw it. how was the build quality and fitment. i wanna make sure that it clears all factory components... like a/c, fan shroud and mates up with stock length cat.

Hey ooMRSIR zeemans advice is GREAT!

If you need a Megan header I will be selling mine 4-1 2.5" collector for $150ish.
It's been used since End of July!

Or if you would prefer I can get you a new one just pm me!

I would do the following :

High flow cat or Gut it.
A Megan Header and make sure the cat back piping is 2.5"
Get some cams pm me
Adj. gears.
Do a full tune-up.
Have zeeman tune it.

Just my 0.02

The build quality was incredible and it the fitment was great, it had good ground clearance as well.
