battery problem

battery problem

hey guys so i cleaned my battery connection over the summer and i opened my hood and saw a **** load of build up of corrosion there any ideas why it keeps coming back or is this one of those(it could be anything) things?

I'm actually interested in the answer to this too. It happened on my old car, and I would clean the terminals on a weekly basis. Although this doesn't happen on my current car.

Oxidation , you didn't put back the terminal grease... did you.

Two types of metal contacting will corode on contact in the air.

clean the terminals again the put grease over them and muti-purpose grease will work

so i cleaned out the terminal today and tightened the batery in place but i have one concern,
there was this piece of metal inside the baterry terminal so that the link would tighten around the terminal i just put it back after i cleaned it
do u guys think that i should install a new link or is the old one with the piece of metal ok?

probably fine as long as its clean and tight and free of rust,corrosion or any other contaminents. did you use the electrical grease so the corrsion doesn't come back?

no i didnt but i will as soon i get my hands on some i just keep forgeting it from crappy tires
