car sat for a month and now wont start

99 civic d16 y7

Ok so I went away for a month and did not take any special precautions to properly store anything

I got back and tryed to start the car, heard it sort of start then shut off. I then got a friend to help me boost the car with jumper cables since the battery sounded dead, still not starting.

After this i used a battery charger to fully charge by battery and it now cranks perfectly normal. However it is still not starting.

I left the car almost empy on fuel when i left so I went and got about 10L of 91oct fuel and put it in the tank.

Checked spark plugs which looked really black and fouled. I changed the spark plugs to new ones.

I have checked and confirmed I am getting spark and I can smell fuel down the spark plug holes and also from my exhaust after cranking a bunch of times.
It has sort of started a couple more times for only about 3 seconds but it sounds like its running reallllly rough and then just shuts off.

Any help or suggestions on this matter would be great

Thanks alot

A few possibilities.

1)you flooded the engine
2)you have WEAK spark, it may still spark, but it may not be strong enough. What I recommend is taking your old spark plug and opening the gap up a bunch. If it jumps that huge gap, usually it is strong enough (remember, I said usually)
3)you may just need a tune-up (cap/rotor)

ok so i ended up getting it working. I changed oil, charged battery, changed spark plugs and added new gas to the tank.
Still didnt start

The spark plugs did have a bit of gas on them...however i held a lighter to one of them and the gas did not ignite...so i guess the gas went bad.

I put a couple drops of new gas down each of the spark plug holes with them out and then replaced them all and it started it really slow and rough but after idling for a little bit got working like normal again

glad thats over however i now have one new issue and that is that my winsheild washer fluid light is on solid on the dash but i have plenty in the resevoir and just filled it.

Anybody know why this would be?

Resevoir sensor malfunction? lol
Recommend install electrical tape over dash light.
