car wouldn't start!!!

so i woke up and tried to start my car and i wouldn't turn on. it was wierd though since my accessories light came on, by when i tried to start the engine it gave like a quiet buzzing sound. then i tried again but then i had no accessory lights. i tried jump starting the car. lights came on, but when i tried to start the engine it gave the same quiet buzzing sound. as i kept trying another sound starting, was like a clicking sound every half second, and wouldn't stop until i pulled out the key. after a few tries the engine finally started and i disconnected the jumper cables.

scared the **** out of me, still does. does anyone know what kind of problem this is? i dont want it happening again. any help appreciated thanks!

Next time it does it, check the battery voltage before you jump start it and tell us what it was. Should be around 11-12 volts. If it's less than that, your battery could be dying.

With the engine running it should read around 13.5-14 volts. If it's less than that, your alternator could be dying.

If the battery voltage is good and it still clicks/buzzes, ity could be your starter motor or starter solenoid.

Check all ground straps (one from valve cover to chassis, one from transmission to chassis and one from battery to chassis).

Just a typical multimeter will do the trick. Don't need anything fancy.
