So my baby threw a CEL last monday. Im 80% sure its the O2's or the cat, so i wasnt too too worried, and i was gonna get my buddy with a obd2 scanner to scan it for me, but his scanner wasnt in till later this week. I was driving home from Yorkdale just now, when i left the CEL was still on, halfway home, it turned off. When i got home i turned off the car, waited 15 mins, and started it again, and no more CEL.

Is there a memory in the ECU that keeps track of the last CEL code? I still wanna find out what threw the CEL in case i fried a sensor or something.

Should i be worried that it turned itself off?

 

my guess is that its the o2 sensor my car does that all the time it comes on randomly that goes off and i dont see it again for weeks or months, but to be safe i would still have it checked

 

If the system see's x amount of drive cycles completed without any faults then it clears the code and sets it as a memory code.

Yes, it's still there.
