My friends civic has a problem once it hits 2500 - 3000rpm it has a loud ticking noise kinda sounds like a card hitting your bikes spokes as a kid lol,

the bad noise at such rpm is more then likely a rod or crank bearing thats on its way out. best bet would be to change the motor now

Ya it sounds pretty bad, that's news he wont want to hear, but thanks buddy ill give him the heads up

it may be bad news but motors are very inexpensive now, 1.5 or 1.6 are pretty much a dime a dozen. but if you want a motor with less then 90***kms i have one. its coming out of a 2000 civic ls that was t-boned.

Well the video sucks and is really quite but the sound that I DO hear doesnt sound like the motor, it sounds like the transmission.

Does it make this sound when you're in neutral and rev the motor? Does it make this sound in every gear or only in certain gears?

Get a new video from OUTSIDE the car with the hood popped and rev the engine to 2500-3000rpms. If the sound is barely there when you're in neutral than its not the engine and I would bet money on the transmission.

IF its the transmission, before you get drastic and decide to swap it, make sure there's fluid in it/it's topped up with fluid.

If it sounds anything like that, the engine is toast. He should also be severely down on power if its a spun bearing.
