ECU issues...

Hey TCC people

well all of a sudden today my car just wouldnt start it would turn but not go. At first I though it was my fuel pump as I couldnt hear it engage but after a further examination I realized that it wasnt the fuel pump but instead my ECU.

Unlike the fuel pump idea this time I am certain this is the source of the problem as I crack open the ecu and found a big burn mark on both inside of the casing and on the circuit board it self.

my question is has anyone had this problem? what could be the cause? Anyone have a 5 speed p28 for sale?.....

thanks in advance

its most likely the fuel pump capacitor that exploded, i've seen this a few times on honda ecus now. Sometimes i can be fixed and sometimes it causes so much damage to the board that it can not be fixed.
I have a chipped p28 if you need one, but i'm located in Hamilton.

fuel pump capacitor.

el oh el

Yeah, like Andrew has said, I have heard of ecu's not making the fuel pump prime as well. Pick one up off andrew, his ecu's add like 50whp

yeah the insides where bad about a toonie size burn... I think I know why this happened though and it was my stupidity. I doubled up the vtec ground with an ecu ground when I hook it up last summer. recently I switched ecus around a few times while testing a new one and that along with the heat caused my tape job to fail. lone behold the burn mark is directly in line with the doubled up ground .... $80 mistake (price of the new Ecu) its fixed now separate grounds.

I swear to god c-p05, most of the time when an ecu doesn't prime the fuel pump its because the big capacitor for the fuel pump circuitry has exploded......i'm not making this up, its not like the flangie valve, or a muffler bearing.

Z, is that near the flux capacitor?

I know, I believe you. I remember thats what was wrong with italfags ecu.
