engine hoist

hey. I know enough ppl do swaps here Im just wondering where you rent your engine hoists?

I have a bad transmission I know I don t have to pull the entire motor and transmission but Ill be 1 bolt away anyways so just to make the process easier I wouldn t mind a hoist...

One bolt away? You're joking right....

Just pull the transmission.

i've bench pressed a tranny into place a few times in my life....you can use a jack and a peice of wood to help lift/lower the tranny...but I do also feel a cherry picker makes the whole process much easier.

Check the yellow pages for tool rental places. I've rented one from an industrial tool rental place here in Hamilton.

all you have to do is put either a jack or jack stand with a peice of wood (to distribute the force) underneath the oil pan to keep the engine in place once the tranny is off.

yeah I know... its just removing the transmission and realigning every back up when I go to put back together will be 245% easier with a 50$/day hoist rental... plus I may choose to do some extra maintenance upon examination..

lets stay on track and not lose sight of the question.

Wow, I'm a moron. I replied directly from a SEARCH result and the date on the result (I could have sworn) said 09-2009... Please ignore my post...

small bucket with wood on it to hold the motor up, and use a jack to "lower" the tranny right off... then when ur ready to put it back on, toss it on the jack, slide it under and jack it back into place.. pulling it all and THEN taking the tranny off and all that just sucks ballz... way more work then there has to be.. but your choice good luck
