complete jdm gsr is about 3000 from totaljdm, and install from a mechanic is about 1000 bucks. I'd say just do it yourself and save some money. you just need a cherry picker and a set of tools and do some research. I could swap it for you but its too damn cold heheheh...

im too nervous that i would screw it up. I was quoted almost 3gs for installation if i have my own motor or $5700 if they supply motor. but that includes a clutch and i believe they said i would need drive shafts new hoses etc

The sweetest deal for you would be... Get a GSR swap coming out of an EG and try to bargin as many parts into the deal as possible. That way, you know the motor and everything your getting will be compatible. It also saves a bit of time and searching etc... Try not to cheap out on anything involved in the swap. For example: You get a GSR motor/tranny at a good price but you know the timing belt has never been done or is due... Spend the extra 300-400 to get everything done before installation to save on labour cost or motor damage down the road... My EK with a GSR Swap cost me $1900 in labour and parts for auto to 5spd conversion... If I sourced the parts my self I would have saved but I was to busy at the time... Anyways... Good luck on the swap!!

wow 3g's for install? That seems awefully high.

Its a very straight forward swap that is considered a direct drop in. Literally all you need is the GSR engine, tranny, mounts, axles, ecu, shifter linkages and both rad hoses, all of which is usually supplied when purchasing a swap (rad hoses are usually cut, but its like $50 for both from any parts store). The rest is wiring up vtec, IAB's and the knock sensor (depending on which ecu you use).

Paying upwards of $1000 for install isn't uncommon at shops. Like someone else mentioned, its worthwhile to change the timing belt and water pump while the engine is out, and definately have your mechanic check out the clutch/flywheel, if its shot, it'll be cheaper to replace while the engine is out, than having to pay a mechanic to drop the tranny and change the clutch/flywheel later.
